    LensCoat LC3004SN reviews

Lens Cover for the Canon 300mm f/4 IS Lens (Realtree AP Snow) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It pays to take a jacket on any day Any protection is worthwhile, especially when we're dealing with an expensive lens in uncertain outdoor conditions. I spend a lot of time by the sea so anything between the lens mechanics and harsh salt spray is certain to prolong the life of my 300. In a hurry as always I dropped it square on the floor and can only attribute good luck and a few mm's of padding to avert what may have been a horrid day at the office. Switching the stabiliser and distance options become slightly more cumbersome but its worth the trade-off. Btw It looks kinda cool too. Loses a star for the $$ you will pay for what must be a dollars worth of material. Still, Im not complaining.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my lens coat I was getting to much attention from my big white lens and had been happy with other lenscoat products so i gave the black coat a go. i immediately saw a difference when i was out shooting. i also like the fact that it protects my lens from bumps and scratches and makes it more comfortable to hold especially as it get cold. it's not cheap but i think it offers a good value and its well made and made in the US.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from L Lens Protection This neoprene cover provides the protection I was looking for. However, these neoprene covers are WAY WAY too expensive... About 4 times more than they should be selling for. Also, the strip they provide to cover the rear end of the lens has an adhesive and sticks to the lens. I did not apply that piece. These two reasons are why I rated this cover at 4 stars. I was going to buy the LensCoat Hoodies too, however, @ had a sale on the. Op/tech hoodies for half the price of the LensCoat. Needles to say, I bought several.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised I don't have the time to be extremely careful with my Canon white lenses on which easily shows wear. I want to protect my investment and get the best resale value. I'm of the opinion that anyone who cares about keeping these expensive pro lenses in pristene condtion and without compromise, should have a lencoat. I like the product and find it easy to switch between black, white or differnt camo prints. I've now purchased several lenscoats in different patterns for wildlife work. It seems so simply but yet so smart.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dissapointed In my kit at least, there was not a separate band for the focus ring. The front band, at its supplied size, is longer than the lens hood retracted, and is actually sized for the lens hood extended. It cannot be used with the lens hood retracted without overhanging at the front or partially covering the focus ring which would interfere with focusing whether manual or auto. That means in the most useful attachment the focus ring is left black and the lens hood is permanently extended .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from it's ok The price is far too expansive for this product. The small strips should be velcro and not adhesive - as removing the adhesive is time consuming and may damage the lens coating. So did not install these; therefore not complete coverage and protection. Not sure the lens hood will expand and retract as promised and the coat is short as noted by other reviewers. Can we get something different than the adhesive strips?! Really.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pricey I bought the neoprene covers to both protect and mask the white lens. (I have heard the white surfaces tend to scratch which, in addition to looking bad, would reduce resale price.) The LensCoat price seemed steep, stunningly steep, but I assumed it was notably high quality. (It's USA made.) The kit has two foam sleeves or cylinders and two narrow strips with adhesive backing. The larger sleeve goes over the sliding lens shade (and is designed to cover the exposed barrel when the shade is pushed forward). The second sleeve goes around the controls portion of the barrel -- including the window display for focal distance. (You can slide the switches with the sleeve in place.) The strips go on the tripod collar and last white band just before the camera body (where the AF/manual switch is). The foam sleeves slide on the lens with some tugging which is fine -- you want them to stay put. (I think they'll be a little harder to get off, but I'm confident it will be manageable.) I was surprised to find the sleeves were cut a little short. In other words, each of them left about 1/4 inch of white barrel showing. I first thought that perhaps I needed to stretch the sleeves so they fit, but that didn't work. They are simply too short. The stitching was, however, well done -- especially around the small windows. I didn't apply the strips. I started to, but when I began to pull the release-paper backing off the adhesive, I discovered it was thick and gooey. Seemed like it would be nightmare to remove down the road. I skipped them. Bottom-line: I'm disappointed about the fit and wary of the adhesive. Consequently, my lens is not covered as advertised. And, of course, the pricey product seems all the more outrageous. (You get less than a square foot of thin neoprene. And while there's some skilled labor involved, I suspect it takes less than a minute or two to stitch.) I suppose there's some chance my particular LensCoat was cut short, but I assume the foam is cut to templates perhaps even by machines. If so, it's not a one-off problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite lense This is my new favorite lens! I'm so glad I could not afford the f2.8, the lighter weight and ease of maneuverability easily make up for the single stop difference, in my opinion. And I get great macro from a very convenient working distance!
