- Activated automatically by the thermostat kit (not included) when the temperature reaches 85° F (29.4° C) then turns off again at 75° F (23.9° C)

Not what I would call ultra-quiet
I am using this to cool an audio rack. It is my fault that I didn't know it was a proprietary Sanus product designed to work with their power distribution system. I ended up wiring a switch that could select between a 7.5 volt or a 9 volt DC supply or OFF. The whine at 12 volts was overwhelming and I will leave it off unless things are getting very hot.
