IK Multimedia iRig Stomp overview

  • 1Description

The IK Multimedia iRig STOMP is a stompbox guitar interface designed for use with the AmpliTube app or any other guitar processing app that uses the iOS mini-jack. It's compatible with the Apple iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 3G/3GS/4/4S and iPod touch 2nd-4th generations. The stompbox enclosure is lightweight aluminum-cast and it's made to fit seamlessly into your guitar pedal rig setup. It features a 1/4" guitar input jack and stereo L/R 1/4" output jacks. There's also an iOS mini-jack connector and a 1/8" headphone output jack. The iRig STOMP is equipped with a large input gain knob and a bypass foot switch as well.

Compact, durable and lightweight aluminum-cast enclosure integrates easily into any traditional pedalboard setup
Can be used in a line with other effects pedals or it can be directly connected to amps and PA systems using a regular 1/4" guitar cable, with no need for adapters
Allows precise adjustment of the signal for perfect guitar and bass levels with its large input gain knob
Active battery-powered output circuit improves headroom, especially when used with high-gain amplifiers in the AmpliTube app, reducing feedback and crosstalk when recording
The bypass switch allows engaging or bypassing the AmpliTube app chain of effects - just like a traditional stompbox - for seamless integration into any existing rig
Ultra-compact form factor can be easily carried on the road
Features an 1/8" (3.5mm) jack for silent practicing with headphones
Includes the AmpliTube app for free and the pedal can be used with any other guitar processing app that uses the iOS mini-jack
Has an ultra-small, compact profile that can be carried anywhere with ease
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad

    IK Multimedia iRig Stomp reviews

iRig STOMP Stompbox Guitar Interface is rated 1.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's, uh, OK I guess? The product is well made and the apps are cool. I own MANY IK products, but... If you want to use the iRig as the FX channel and Bypass to use your amp's clean tone, there is a very big insertion loss. IK Multimedia was great about getting back to me and I tried all of their suggestions, but to no avail. However you try to make up the gain, it results in unwanted distortion. I returned this unit and bought the Digitech iStomp which works wonderfully. The Digitech is more expensive, but no problems with insertion loss, the FX are great and the fact that it has knobs makes it extremely easy to use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Idea..... but needs work I use the pedal for live performances as a bass player. I love the fact that you can tap your Itunes music during a break and go right to a playlist. As far as being useful as a bass effects pedal, its very noisy and emmit a constant hiss. Use the noise filter and you get no tone from you bass. I think it is more of an issue with the cable more so than the pedal itself. I get a lot of pops and cracks when the cable is disturbed even the smallest bit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great idea... Falls short expectations Thought this would be a great diving in point for integrating the power of iOS in guitar playing. Built well and the app (AmpliTude) is very cool. But...big insertion loss! If you had thoughts of running the bypass as your clean channel and thein as your FX channel, it ain't gonna happen. Unless you are using VERY high gain on the iRig IN and the Bypass for clean, (let's say a clean, chorused sound via AmpliTude) if you intend to use the Stomp to switch back over to Bypass, the bypassed signal is WAY hotter, unless you start upping the IN gain A LOT which results in unwanted distortion on the IN side. Also keep in mind, the hotter you run the iOS FX, the noisier things get. For experimenting or if you are going to use it as an interface only and set it and forget it, you'll be fine.
