Didn't last a week! Fell off the camera somewhere while I was photographing birds on the beach. No way to fasten it securely. So total waste of money!

I put it on my 1DX and used it this weekend--wedding on Saturday and Sunday. It worked well. I couldn't tell the difference between this one (Vello) and the Canon eyepiece when I was shooting.

Fits great on the camera, a little more snug than the original, so it won't get lost when carrying on your shoulder. Cheaper than the original too!

Bought this for 1D Mk III. Improprer fit as there is no notch like the original Canon EG to stop the eyepiece at the right position. It goes past the top and the eyepiece now blocks the viewfinder :(

Why versatile? This is a well made eyepiece surround (basically an eyeguard) based on the excellent Canon design. However, I did not purchase this one for a Canon camera. I recently lost the eyepiece from an OLD Olympus E-3. From reading the forums, this was a frequent occurance as the design of their eyepiece/eyeguard was not very good. Enter Canon. With careful measurements, I determined that a Canon-sized eyepiece could replace the Olympus OEM eyepiece which is long since out of production. With careful modification, it works! It fits where the original E-3 eyepice was located, it remains in place, and has more cushion than the OEM part. While I give myself a pat on the back for making the modifications successfully, I could not have done so if this Vello item had been a low-quality Canon knockoff. Hats off to Vello, my experience with their products have been pretty good!

This is a replacement eyepiece for Canon EOS.It is a bit stiff but usable.
