The CameraRibbon Rig QR Classic Camera Support for Panasonic, Sony, Canon & JVC Professional Cameras is a lightweight and compact padded shoulder support for ENG shooting. The support is made from a single strip of 1/8" aluminum and designed primarily for use with the Panasonic AG-AF100, HVX200, and HPX170 cameras. Other compatible cameras are the Sony PMW-100, PMW-150, PMW-160, PMW-200, PMW-EX1R, PMW-EX3, NEX-FS100, NEX-FS700, and PMW-F3, the JVC GY-HM600 and GY-HM650, and the Canon XF300 and XF305 cameras. The Rig QR Classic takes the strain off the camera operator's wrist, hands, and back with a counterbalanced and padded shoulder support. A sturdy 1" diameter aluminum rubber-covered handgrip with a small vinyl-covered lead counterweight is mounted low on the back of the support for superb counterbalance.

CameraRibbon RIG QR Overview

The CameraRibbon Rig QR Classic Camera Support for Panasonic, Sony, Canon & JVC Professional Cameras is a lightweight and compact padded shoulder support for ENG shooting. The support is made from a single strip of 1/8" aluminum and designed primarily for use with the Panasonic AG-AF100, HVX200, and HPX170 cameras. Other compatible cameras are the Sony PMW-100, PMW-150, PMW-160, PMW-200, PMW-EX1R, PMW-EX3, NEX-FS100, NEX-FS700, and PMW-F3, the JVC GY-HM600 and GY-HM650, and the Canon XF300 and XF305 cameras. The Rig QR Classic takes the strain off the camera operator's wrist, hands, and back with a counterbalanced and padded shoulder support. A sturdy 1" diameter aluminum rubber-covered handgrip with a small vinyl-covered lead counterweight is mounted low on the back of the support for superb counterbalance.

This unique design allows four points of contact with the operator for very stable handheld shots, while maintaining a comfortable and balanced posture for the videographer. A quick release plate with 1/4"-20 screw is included. The ribbon features a powder coated wrinkle finish and the tapered handle is coated in vinyl for improved comfort and increased grip.

Fair but overpriced.

First I threw its mounting plate in the bin and replaced it because it would not hold the sliding plate tight, no matter how hard I locked it. The camera could slide forward unexpectedly. Fortunately I already had a better quality plate purchased for $20 on eBay. When I got to using the Camera Ribbon with camera at last held safely, it performed OK, so I will continue to use it. Up until now I have been using a cheap plastic brace (see Dot Line DL-0370 Hands-free Video Stabilizer for DSLR and Camcorders) which I modified by reversing the bottom arm to achieve much the same configuration and I found that there was little significant difference in performance compared to this one.. Perhaps the Ribbon with its slightly higher weight and inertia was a tad steadier. I then wondered why I had paid so much more to achieve hardly any better than a $50 plastic fantastic. Oh well. Come in sucker. Note that the Ribbon has some flex in it too, which may or may not annoy you.

It's kind of difficult for the camera to reach you eye... even with a long viewfinder... but very nice in general.

I would buy this again and recommend it.

Finally, a reasonably priced rig to use my Sony NX-100 as a shoulder mount camera. I love it.

We use the CameraRibbon when we need to do extended handheld TV News Videography. We use Sony PMW200 Camcorders in the field, and the CameraRibbon allows us to shoulder mount it with a counterbalance that takes the strain and muscle out of the process. Plus it frees up the other hand, for live cues. The quick release mount feature allows us to switch to our tripod quickly. Note, I strongly recommend others to buy an extra lead counterweight, when using with a Sony PMW200 Camcorder.

I bought the Camera Ribbon to use with my Panasonic AF-100 for live event capture and for documentary style videos that require fast action and responsiveness. The product is easy to setup and adjust. I wanted to be able to position the camera so I can use the viewfinder rather than the flip-out LCD. This product does the trick. It makes hand holding much easier and steadier. I took it for a test drive at the gym during a CrossFit competition and I was able to move around and capture nice steady shots quickly. It will not replace a rig to load accessories but is a great adjustable should support for specific cameras.

A simple design that really works, well made, solid, and steady. Perfect balance with the dual weight option! Easy to handle and carry and the quick release is fast when moving to the tripod. This rig turns my small camcorder into a shoulder mounted camera. Brilliant. Just what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Excellent for Panasonic UX90/180

After looking at dozens and dozens of shoulder mounting solutions for my UX90 and UX180, I settled on this. I liked the idea of one handle so that I could still operate the zoom rocker with my right hand. The product is beefier and heavier than I thought it would be. There is no flexing of the ribbon, owing to the thickness of the metal used. There are several mounting holes to choose from. You can choose on of the mounting holes more to the rear and use the viewfinder or you could move the camera forward and use the camera's LCD screen. When using the viewfinder, I did find myself wishing I could move the camera back about 1 more, but not enough that I felt it was uncomfortable. The unit does exactly what I wanted: it allows me to hand-hold my UX180 and achieve rock-solid steadiness.

I bought this to use with my new Panasonci HC-X1 camera. Easy to set up and use, this is great for ENG/Run and Gun shooting. This makes it easy to stabilize and shoot great video! I would highly recommend this wonderful tool.

The notation of the "Wireless microphone attachment" means that the CameraRibbon Rig QR Classic Camera Support for Panasonic, Sony, Canon & JVC Professional Cameras has a patch of Velcro on the tail end of the rig which can be used to hold wireless mics.
