You would think that with a high-precision instrument like this there would be an included bag or case. I would suggest a lens pouch. This one would fit and cuddle your ballhead in neoprene niceness.

What is arca plate compatible?

named after a particular vendor, Arca Swiss, who's camera to tripod mounting (slide in clamp on camera, plate on tripod head) has become a bit of a standard. So any tripod with a area swiss mounting plate can attach to any camera with an area swiss mount attached to it. There all kinds of choices of area swiss mounts for cameras.

what is the diameter of the thread on the bottom of this head?

The Vanguard BBH-200 Ballhead has a 3/8 -16 thread for mounting to a tripod. It also comes with a /4 -20 to 3/8 Reducer Bushing for tripods and monopods that have the smaller thread size for mounting a head.

Does this head accommodate the acra L plate as well?

It's a little too small for my arca-type bracket. I can slide the bracket in when the mount is fully opened, but it's still tight and a pain to get on and off. I also had to loosen the safety pin to be able to slide it on.

Is this ballhead compatible with a all vanguard tripods or just a select few?

As far as I know, it is all tripods. Ballheads screw onto the x 20 screw in the top of the tripod and then you use the lockdown screws to tighten the head in place. The only consideration would be that the 200 is for a heavier camera and may not work well on small or lightweight tripods. Hope that helps V.

Is the notch on this ball head 90 degree? (In other words, when you drop into the notch for portrait orientation, is it perfectly 90 deg? Many ball heads go past 90 deg, and you have to fiddle with it and lock it down to make it perfectly 90 deg)
