Software
Install/Uninstall
• iTwin self-installs on first plug-in itself
• Requires admin access for installation
• Uninstallation is simple as it uses standard uninstall mechanisms
Software Updates
• New features, fixes and enhancements are rolled out regularly
• All the automatic updates to the file-access product are free
• When a new software update is available, iTwin will automatically inform you and you can update it quickly and easily
No Storage Limitations
• Although iTwin looks like a USB storage device, it does not store any data on itself. iTwin is a data-access device between any two computers
• The only limit is the size of your computer’s hard drive. If you have a 1 TB drive and desire to access it completely, you can do so with the iTwin
• Any network files or folders that you can access from your computer can be shared using iTwin
No Temp Files
Once you unplug iTwin, all temp files are removed automatically. This is especially useful when using a 'public' or someone else's computer
Bi-Directional File Access
• The connection between the two computers is completely symmetrical with iTwin. Each computer has a ‘local’ and a ‘remote’ iTwin folder
• You can access, copy, backup and remotely edit files on computer A from computer B and on B from A. You will have access to files on both A and B
• iTwin is like the two ends of a cable, without the cable
Security
State-of-the-Art Crypto
iTwin uses industry best practices and thoroughly analyzed crypto protocols and algorithms
• Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256-bit encryption is used to protect all data communication which has not been broken so far and is considered to be of military grade
• All data amenable to compression is first compressed before encryption
Remote Disable
• When two halves of iTwin are paired, the owner is sent a Remote Disable Code (through email) which can be used to break the connection between the two iTwins
• Using this disable code, a lost or missing iTwin can be disabled remotely
Smart Key Generation
• The two halves of iTwin generate a shared random 256-bit AES key, every time they are physically paired and plugged into a computer
• Smart Key generation is assisted by the computer to add randomness
• Smart crypto key resides only on the two halves of the paired iTwin
• Smart key is used for encrypting all data traffic between the two halves
• It features the patent-pending technology
Password Support
• Passwords of any length can be set
• Unlike other web services, iTwin's password is stored on the device only and not on any server
• If you forget your password, simply pair both halves of your iTwin, plug them into a computer and set a new password
• Your password cannot be accessed by anyone, not even by iTwin Inc. It is stored only on the paired halves of the iTwin
TwinTrust Authentication
• Before allowing any data transfer, both halves are authenticated by iTwin's TwinTrust servers
• All communication between iTwin and TwinTrust is secured using industry strength HTTPS (RSA 1024-bit, 128-bit RC4) protocol
• After successful authentication by TwinTrust, it assists the device to discover the paired, other half
Two-Factor Authentication
• After authenticating with TwinTrust, two halves of iTwin mutually authenticate each other using their pre-shared AES 256-bit crypto key
• If password is set, then password verification is performed on both halves before data transfer is initiated between the two computers
Connectivity
Just Connects
• As long as the two halves are plugged into two computers which have Internet connections, iTwin allows computer to computer file transfer anywhere on the Earth
• iTwin detects almost all types of proxies, firewalls and NATs and self-configures
• In case one or both, computers are not directly accessible (behind firewalls), the encrypted data traffic is relayed through iTwin’s globally distributed servers (Amazon EC2 based)
Powered by AWS Web Services
iTwin uses Amazon Web Services infrastructure with 99.5% availability to ensure fast, safe and secure data relays
Privacy
• All data is encrypted before it leaves your computer. Your data remains encrypted until it reaches the computer to which the second half of iTwin is attached
• Your data is never stored or buffered on any iTwin server and is stored only on your computer
Seamless Handling of Network Interruptions
• In case of Internet disruption, iTwin pauses the file transfer
• When the Internet connection resumes, iTwin continues the file transfer from where it left off
• iTwin's progress bar indicates the amount of data left to be transferred
Transfer Limits
• Unlike many cloud based storage services, iTwin allows you to transfer as much data as you want. The only constraint is the limit of your ISP's bandwidth allowances
• You don't need to worry about monthly fees, allowances or bandwidth limits when you transfer large files online with the iTwin
Smart Connector
During physical pairing, connector is used to securely transfer crypto key between the two halves of the iTwin
The iTwin is compatible and interchangeable with both Mac (Snow Leopard and Lion) and PC (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7)
The iTwin allows you to remotely and limitlessly access and share up to your entire hard drive on a device that fits into the palm of your hand
The remote data can only be accessed if you physically have the matching half of the iTwin with you and the (optional) password
You can edit remote files directly, without creating additional copies and no worries of version control
No configuration is required. The iTwin is a plug and play, drag and drop USB device
The files reside on your own computer and not on the iTwin. Hence, there is no storage limit on the iTwin itself
File access is restricted to you and/or your selected iTwin 'partner' user only and is limited to only those files you put into iTwin folders
All shared media can be displayed in Thumbnail view on both local and remote files. This makes file identification convenient
If you accidentally delete a file from the iTwin folder, it is not deleted from the original location
The iTwin is easy to use exactly like Windows Explorer or Mac Finder and requires Internet access
The data access speed depends on the Internet speed (in high-bandwidth environments, indistinguishable from flash drive access speeds)
The iTwin is a tiny and easy to carry device
