Rated 5 out of 5 by from For smooth zoom effects You don't know that you need this gadget until you buy one. Shooting video with a DSLR and wanting to re-frame and draw attention to detail, you need to use the zoom on your lens. This is very cumbersome and without any accessory, the most likely outcome is a clumsy zoom in or out as you struggle to keep the camera stable on its tripod while gripping a zoom control on your lens. The DRH Focusing Handle gives you the possibility to control the zoom or focus function of the lens from the side, and allows you to control it in a smooth and fluid manner. It fits on in seconds. Brilliant!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from function is hit-or-miss This looks professional and all, but the design has a major flaw. It basically has a single point of contact to the lens barrel. Look at the screw top that is closest to the handle. That is the pivot point for a piece of metal that runs about 15-20 of arc. Screwing in the handle pivots that little metal piece to a sharp angle, ... if the lens is not already VERY close the to max diameter that this fits. In my case, I am using it on a Nikon 18-105mm kit lens. To grip the lens barrel securely, you put too much pressure on that point of contact, deforming it (reversibly; so, no lasting damage or dent) enough that the lens resists rotation, creating a drag-&-jump-iness to your zooms (or focus). I have at times got this to work, but it's really dicey. (This issue has been even worse on other slightly smaller lenses.) I am currently looking for another design to replace this with on all my video DLSRs.
