The MP1A from Tonelux is a discrete microphone preamplifier designed for use in the optional VRack system enclosures. The MP1A features transformer-coupled inputs and outputs, a -20 dB pad, 48V phantom power, a phase polarity switch, and the unique "Tilt" equalizer that boosts and attenuates up to 6 dB simultaneously around a center frequency of 800 Hz, adding clarity and punch where desired.
Another unique feature of the MP1A is the separate output fader used to control the record level of the mic pre output, independent of the mic pre gain. This allows the preamp to be driven harder without overdriving the output, while offering an additional +6 dB of gain before engaging the -20 dB pad. Once the MP1A is seated in a VRack enclosure, the unit offers an XLR input on the rear, while the front panel provides an XLR/1/4" combo jack with a switchable DI input with all signals multed together, bypassing the need for a splitter. The eight-stage VU meter is switchable via internal jumper between the mic pre gain and the output fader. When using the MP1A in a mixer configuration, a pre-fader listen (PFL) switch allows you to solo the mic pre before other VRack system modules. The MP1A is made in the USA.
