The Peavey Digitool MX 8-Channel Programmable Digital Audio Processor offers considerably more analog connectivity than similar products at this price point. Featuring 8 balanced Mic/Line inputs, each with Phantom Power, this unit can handle locations that need a few permanently-installed microphones in addition to line-level audio sources.
The Digitool MX is designed for easy setup. The fixed-architecture, i.e. non-variable input and output addresses, makes the internal software-based routing more intuitive. All functions can be accessed and manipulated through the 64 x 128 pixel onboard display or the Digitool Utility for Windows.
Powered by dual Analog Devices SHARC DSP chips, The Digitool MX has a combined 132 MIPS of DSP processing power. It can convert and process 24-bit audio at sample rates up to 96kHz.
The software controls all input and output functions, which can be accessed from the unit's front panel or the Windows-based utility. Input level and gain is selected on each channel, then dynamics, corrective, and equalization processing can be applied. Each output is displayed as a separate mixdown of all 8 inputs. Additionally, DSP processing can be applied independently to each output to optimize the sound quality of each space.
Up to 4 of Peavey's D-series wallmounted remote controls can be networked to the Digitool MX. They're able to control input source and volume level from within the output area. The RS-485 connects by CAT 5 cable at lengths up to 4,000 feet (1,219.2 m).
