I gave it to the Pastor of a Baptist church who needed help making his Canon HR 80 camcorder which he also bought at B & H. Now he can record from their Sound Booth and connect to the soundboard and get clean, crowd-less sound quality! Perfect! Thank you!

The Hosa version of this adapter cable is not as sturdy feeling or well constructed as someone elses version I had from several years ago (but seems to have walked off). It works, though. Wish I had purchased the 10 foot length, though.

Fair in camera audio capture solution for BMCC 2.5K

I bought it to see if I could get some fair in camera audio for my Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K using a Tascam DR-100MKII as a microphone for some interviews. I'm really tired of capturing audio with an external audio recorder, then finding the audio clip, synchronizing with video and repeating the process in post. I wanted to try to get in camera audio even if that means to deal with some messy cables from my camera. So this Hosa Technology REAN 3.5mm TRS to Dual 1/4 TS Pro Cable was the best solution I could find. In camera audio quality was fair if you place the Tascam about 3 feet away from the talent, I'm pretty sure an audio technician can get even better results as I'm more about video. In post you can enhance what you captured eliminating the white noise. You can also use the cable to attach it to wireless audio receiver it works ways better with a Lavalier system.

Will this cable work if I try to connect my Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K or Production Camera 4K to a Zoom H6/Tascam DR-100 Mrk III for in camera audio capture while using these devices as microphones?

There are a few things that you'll need to do in order to run audio from a Tascam or Zoom recorder into one of these Blackmagic cinema cameras. After testing, we've discovered the cameras only support a true balanced audio signal. You may use the Hosa HMP-006Y cable to connect from an audio recorder into a line balancer such as the Ebtech LLS-2 (B&H# EBLLS2), at which point the audio signal will be compatible with what the camera is expecting. You would also need two balanced 1/4 cables. With all this said and done, frankly the best audio you will get will be the audio being recorded directly into the Zoom or Tascam recorder. If you plan on using the Blackmagic audio as a scratch audio track for reference, then you may consider moving forward with my suggestions.
