Think Tank Photo Retrospective overview

  • 1Description

The black Retrospective Lens Changer 3 from Think Tank allows you to carry or store two extra lenses in a soft, well-protected, inconspicuous bag. The subtle design of the bag makes it easy to tote around within a shooting venue. It's rated to hold three 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses with hoods reversed, each in its own separate compartment.

With its hook & loop closure, your gear is rapidly accessed and protected by the large front flap that covers the entire bag. The underside of the flap contains a convenient, clear business card holder for easy identification of the bag or for easy distribution of your card. The back of the bag has a zippered storage pocket that contains an additional organizer pocket used for pens, batteries, memory cards or other small items. An additional accessory pocket is located on the front of one lens compartment. It's sized to hold a lens cloth, lens cap or Think Tank's optional Pixel Pocket Rocket memory card wallet.

The Retrospective is carried by its top, quick grab carry handle or its breathable, cushioned canvas non-slip shoulder strap. The non-slip material integrated into the strap helps maintain its stability while in use. The bag incorporates Think Tank's Sound Silencer technology that eliminates the noise typically associated with the ripping sound produced from the touch fasteners used in traditional bags.

For additional protection, the bag comes with a rain cover that can be rapidly deployed should you get caught in foul weather. Backed by Think Tank's lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects, this bag gives you a reliable way to protect and transport your lenses in both style and comfort.

The Retrospective Lens Changer 3 has three separated lens compartments for rapid access and easier storage. All compartments can accommodate a 70-200mm f/2.8 with its lens hood reversed
The exterior of each Retrospective shoulder bag is purposefully simple, allowing photographers to inconspicuously blend into their shooting environment
Opening the zippered pocket on the back of the Retrospective Lens Changer 3 reveals a built-in organizer for pens, spare batteries, memory cards and other sundries
A small accessory pocket with a hook-and-loop enclosure is located on the front of one of the lens compartments. This a convenient place for lens caps, a cleaning cloth, or an optional Pixel Pocket Rocket memory card wallet
A carrying handle is conveniently placed at the top of the Retrospective Lens Changer 3 so you can easily grab the bag when you're ready to go
The seam-sealed rain cover for the Retrospective Lens Changer 3 is specially designed to keep the integrated shoulder strap exposed while protecting your valuable photo gear from the elements
The "sound silencers" underneath the main flap are used to suppress the loud tearing sound hook-and-loop makes while opening and closing the bag. Simply release the sound silencer panels and cover the hook-and-loop strips to prevent the hook-and-loop from contacting
A clear business card pocket, for identification and spare cards, is also located under the main flap
Hook-and-loop panels securely fastens the main flap down, keeping valuable photo equipment hidden from view

    Think Tank Photo Retrospective reviews

Retrospective Lens Changer 3 (Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Love the bag- but ruins clothes I love think tank products and I LOVE this bag, but sadly have to stop using it. it would be perfect except one major flaw... it's ruined countless outfits. The velcro flaps on the inside are designed so that you can silence the bag and flip over the flap for easy access to lenses. great idea EXCEPT that the velcro always ruins my clothing. Even when the velcro is closed, it still rubs up against my clothing and snags it. Last night at a wedding, I wore a brand new dress and it was ruined after one afternoon with the bag, then entire side of my dress was snagged. So bummed because I love everything else about this bag. Wish they would design a cover or something for it to fix this problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected If you're a photographer you'll know how annoying can be trying to keep all your lenses at the same time in your hand or something else, this product is exactly what I wanted and what I needed. Buy it! and you'll not regret!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's Okay It's Okay, is what I have to say. Yes, it can hold a 70-200mm, but not very well with a hood and tripod foot attached. It is a tight fit. The bag itself is devoid of any padding, which is surprising for a lens carrier. The bag has three 70-200mm f/2.8 slots of fixed size. The best thing about is that I can carry up to three professional size lenses in a fairly compact bag. I do not recommend stacking lenses in one slot. Otherwise, I think the lack of padding makes it overpriced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lenschanger Indeed! Easy to use. I love the fact that is hard enough to protect the lenses yet it does surround the waist so that it does not carry around like dead weight. Awesome material quality, very well thought out and implemented. It can carry even more lenses if you use primes or combination of zooms and primes. Reaaly nice access to the well protected lenses. It has room for lens cleaning kit. Another awesome piece of equipment from Think Tank.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Bag but I'm spoiled with the Thinktank Belt system I photograph weddings and have been using a Thinktank Belt and modular components set for about 7 years. As my belly gets larger I'm feeling a desire have a more slim/low profile at weddings. Enter the lens changer bag. This bag is a slightly less capable yet nice alternative to using my think tank belt system. Although I wish it had more pockets like the belt changer bags. I have also been contemplating cutting off the flap that covers the lenses since I always have it folded back against my body which keeps me from getting into the rear pockets. If this could be more of a hybrid between a lens bag and their belt system I would feel better about leaving my belt at home. For now I just use them both, my belt during the really portrait intensive time and the bag during the reception. So now I'm only knocking things over and bumping into people with my lenses half of the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT SHOOTING BAG I used this bag while shooting the Komen Race for the Cure and it worked very well. I like the ability to Quickly insert and remove a particular lens. Although it can carry 3 lenses, one lens will be the active lens, the other two spots are for additional lens. It's strap is good for installing the Peak Design Capture clip which can hold your camera or an additional lens

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How did I ever get along without it. I started doing Wedding Photography more often. Rather then carrying two cameras - I was able to carry my 70-200 and my 85mm and left the 3rd lens holder for misc items rather than a 3 lens. The Wedding shots went off without a hitch and walked away thanking Think Tank for making such an item. Now, I use it for everything - not just Wedding photography. I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens Bag I needed a bag for some fast glass when I shoot events, but wanted it to be discrete. This bag works perfectly for this. I use a Nikon 70-200, 24-70 and 17-35 as well as a 50 1.4. With one lens o my camera and on a Black rapid strap this bag holds it including an iPad in the back. As long as you do not want to pack away your camera body this is perfect!
