The CB-50DC Ballhead with QP-144750 Release Plate from Feisol inherits the two-locking-system design of previous Fiesol ballhead models, with the added feature of an outer layer of carbon--20g weight advantage, the feel of carbon (even in cold weather), and an attractive carbon-weave appearance. The dual-caliper design provides one system to lock the ballhead sphere, and a second to lock the base plate for even greater stability. This allows for the added capability of rotating the base plate while maintaining a locked sphere. The quick release system is Arca-Swiss compatible.

CB-50DC Ballhead with QP-144750 Release Plate is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch product. I normally don't write reviews, but I was a little surprised nobody has written one on this ball head yet. I was a little reluctant to try the Feisol brand, especially when everyone is always raving about gitzo and arca-swiss. I can safely say this is a comparable high quality brand, and the support from the manufacturer is great as well. So the first thing you'll notice is this ball head is tricked out in carbon fiber, obviously. The weight savings is negligible but it looks killer. More importantly, operation is as smooth as a hot knife through butter! Very little creep when locking things down(negligible IMO), and once locked down it's as solid as a brick house. My only gripe is that the panning knob is a little hard to get at if your tripod has a large base. Most ball heads are like that, though. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an arca-swiss style/quality ball head without breaking the bank. I attached a proper photo since the supplied one doesn't do it justice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect - Just what I needed! I was given a FEISOL Classic Tripod CT-3401 Rapid by a friend and needed to get a ball head for it. After researching a number of different brands and styles, I chose the Feisol CD-50DC. I wanted a carbon fiber one as I can't carry anything heavy due to health issues. However, I also wanted one that would hold up and be able to handle the weight of my equipment. I have a Nikon D300 with grip and the heaviest lens I own at present is the 70-300VR. This ball head is very secure and handles the combination beautifully. There is no creeping at all! I read some really fantastic reviews on this ball head. It is very well constructed and the locking mechanisms are solid. This ball head would serve you well. I am very pleased with this purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this ball head to others!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not truly Arca-Swiss Compatible I had bought this head with the intention of it being my lightweight travel head to use with my Rollei 6008 and Toyo VX125 setups. One of the things that drew me to it was the weight, holding strength, and Arca-Swiss compatibility. However, upon receiving the head I found the clamp doesn't open wide enough to accommodate the VX125's base, which is an integrated Arca-Swiss compatible base. Needless to say, I am not too happy with that my camera's base now has some new gouges taken out of it along with the fact that I would have to use a QR plate if I want to use the camera with this head. I like the head's overall weight and controls, but I may end up returning it to get something that I don't need to use a QR plate with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very secure and solid I use it with my 5d3/6d and 70-200 2.8 IS II, it does not slip at all. The arca swiss style release plate is very secure with safety lock.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Having issues with this product I bought this product back in May 2014... I have since then used this product only 7 times.... The 1st time it worked like a charm.... had no issues.... today when i used this product with my tripod the ball head with not stay secured and locked in place.... mind you this product is supposed to be able to to handle 41 lbs of weight... i have my nikon d7100, an extra battery pack, 28-300mm nikon lens ( or even my 85mm prime lens) with a nikon sb-800 flash all on this and i know all of this weight amounts to 23- 28 lbs because i weight it myself all mounted on my tripod.... I have also noticed that i needed pliers to loosen and tighten the ballhead friction as well... i tightened the friction as tight as i possibly could go and still can't do the job.... i can say this is probably the worst investment i have ever made.... i am not a huge fan of chinese made products but i gave in to it because my friends had them and they said they were good.... i have since then reached out to bhpahoto and they only have a 30 day policy on this product.... so they told me to reach out to feisol thru email (not a huge fan of this either since i would like to talk to a real human being).... i will give feisol the benefit of the doubt that this may be a faulty product and hopefully they can come with a resolution after 7-8 months of ownership.... but to spend $ for a product and go that quickly is outrageous.... if all goes well with feisol... i will update this in the future.... But for now i would not recommend this product....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great head for the money! I have been using this head now for 4 years and just saw the reviews when browsing the B&H shop. To all you guys having issues: please read the manual (I think Feisol has this also on their website). This will explain how to proper use of the friction function. I have had zero problems with this head, not even with heavy equipment like my 400 2.8 lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price, Great Product I have waited way too long to purchase an new ballhead with a quick release plate. The Feisol CB-50DC works perfectly with my Canon 5D Mark II. The controls and tension knobs are first rate, and I love this ballhead. I am using it on my Vanguard Actus tripod, and it is a great match. I would definitely recommend Feisol products.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Probably not worth it So this is an awesome ball head. The controls and knobs are smooth and easy. It's got adjustable tension on it, and it's a really sweet bit of kit. Totally rock solid. However After the first week of use the 'plate holder' came loose from the actual ball part of the head. And by came loose, I mean, it spins independently of the ball. This is particularly problematic when you want to put the camera on its side and the weight of the lens makes the whole thing tip down (on a joint which isn't meant to move at all). This was noticeable after the first week and has since worsened with time. I've even replaced the screw, tried adding washers and glue and anything I can think of to get it to stay put (as by this point I'm outside of warranty). Nothing seems to work. So sadly, for that reason, this is one to avoid. It's possible I just got a bad one, but it's put me off using their heads. (Their legs are awesome though, even after a years worth of abuse).
