They are spikes. Not much to them, but well made. The CT-3442 tripod bag wont accommodate the long spikes, but these short spikes will fit. Tripod is used outdoors. 4 stars only because I would have bought the long spikes if the bag would have fit.
These work nicely in providing a little armor to the leg-ends when working outdoors. The rubber caps work well, but the edges can wear on rocky and other abrasive surfaces. Pop the rubber leg-end caps off and screw these on with the included wrench. It would be nice if they had a little sharper angle to them, but no problems. If you work outdoors, I would also suggest getting the longer spikes for when you want the pod anchored.
