LensCoat Standard Reviews

Could be longer

Typical Lenscoat high quality product, but it’s a bit short for my Canon 100-400 lens. Needs to be about three inches longer to properly accommodate this lens. I’ll keep it anyway because there’s nothing on the market any better.

Bigger than I really needed

Bought for wife's P900 getting ready for a trip to Alaska. Too big to fit that camera properly, but will work fine for my 80-200 and 300 mm, so it will work for me. Seems to be well made and should be useful. I can see where trying it on at home will have value, because it might be slow if the first time you really needed it you were having to figure it all out in the rain. Delivered faster than FedEx promised as well.

Exactly what I needed!!

Took an Alaskan Cruise. Wanted rain protection for my camera and this raincoat delivered. Fine misty rain to light rain virtually the entire trip. Not once did I worry about the camera. Covered a Nikon D500 with 70-200 f2.8 or my 300 f4 PF with ease and room to spare. As other reviewers indicate, try it on and know how it attaches before you need it. I used a round rubber lens shade on both lens that make for a secure attachment to the front of the lens to keep the raincoat in place. It was easy as both lens are 77mm filter size. I received numerous comments from other photographers. I could shoot when they could not and have the shots to prove it. Dries quickly and packs away nicely. It now has a regular place in my bag.

Effective but?????

Build quality and workmanship are of top quality. The fit and effectiveness seem good and after using it at a very very soggy and wet soccer tournament it lived up to its purpose. My only complaint/drawback is after slipping it onto your camera and affixing it to your lens the back of the camera has a simple drawstring. You can not close it tightly or you will cover everything including the viewfinder! Leaving it open enough to see and operate the camera then leaves a major opening for rain etc to hit the back of the camera. Luckily the weekend I needed it was a steady drizzle but little or no wind so I was able to block the back of the camera with my hat and hood. But any heavier rain or wind would've been a major problem!

Great !

I just received this, to use with my Nikon D700 and the Nikon 200-500mm F5.6 lens mounted on a really right stuff side mount gimbal head. With the lens hood attached there is enough length to use with a tele-converter attached too. Fits perfectly. Easy on easy off. Does use some velcro but once set you should not need to be opening and closing it. The fabric makes a crinkling sound when fixing it but quiet enough that I don't think it will startle any wildlife. Looking forward to using it. You have the option to use the hand access or not but I think it will be great to have. I plan to use it not only in the nasty elements but also to camouflage the equipment.

Purchased for a Canon SLR with 100 - 400 lens. Used last month on a trip to Alaska - very pleased.

Disappointed

I purchased this about a year ago. Today 9/8/18 was the first chance I really got to use it in the rain. It has been raining in my area off and on for the last week. Today was a ranch rodeo I'd been looking forward to shooting since last year. At the rodeo I was in a slow, steady light rain for 3 hours. At times it rained a little heavier but it was not a downpour, just raining. This "rain coat" soaked through. I had it on my Canon 7D II and 70-300 lens. The lens was wet and the rain coat ended up sticking to my lens & camera and left a sticky residue on both. I guess if it had just been a light misty rain there might not have been a problem. I will be searching for a more water-proof cover.
