Vortex VHS-4315-LR overview

  • 1Description

The 6-24x50 Viper HS Long Range Riflescope with XLR MOA reticle from Vortex is specifically designed for intermediate to long-range hunting. The single-piece tube is machined from a solid block of aerospace aluminum then anodized, argon filled, and o-ring sealed for weatherproof and shockproof performance. Vortex's XD (extra-low dispersion) lens elements are engineered to provide improved color fidelity and image resolution; the elements are fully multicoated with a proprietary XR layer that enhances image brightness. To protect the lens surfaces from scratches and contamination, ArmorTek coatings are applied to the objective and ocular. This configuration of the Viper HS features a side focus parallax adjustment, in-view fiber optic magnification indicator, and an XLR MOA reticle with wind reference subtensions that assist wind drift calculations.

    Vortex VHS-4315-LR reviews

6-24x50 Viper HS Long Range Riflescope (XLR FFP) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Durable, reliable, but poor glass This scope is mechanically sound. It tracks great and I like the reticle. It perfectly held zeroe for two years of heavy use including lots of rough roads and getting banged around pretty good. It never drifted out of adjustment. Now for the bad. The quality of the glass leaves a lot to be desired. The clarity sucks, and it doesn’t do well in low light. I find my self using 12x instead of 24x because it image quality is bad at full magnification. It’s a moderately priced scope that works. But the clarity will leave you wishing for more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Performance in the Field!!! I never write reviews, but this scope deserves recognition. I was in the market about 6 months ago for an upgrade, when my older Nikon stopped holding groups. My buddy has a Vortex, I was really impressed with the functionality and clarity, so I started shopping. Ended up choosing the Viper HSLR 6-24x50 FFP. Once I put it on, I couldn't believe it, the clarity and quality is mind boggling. Normally I only target shoot out to about 200 yards, but now I'm spoiled, like the milk jugs I can easily pop at 600. The clarity, FFP, and reticle make shooting so much easier, I can't believe that my old scope was so inferior. I just got home from a week long white tail hunt in Missouri, where I got to put this puppy to the test. Nice buck showed up right before sunset. It was starting to get dark, but you would never know it looking through this scope, with how much light it pulls in. He was 150 yards out, it felt like 25 looking through the Vortex. I also got a nice big body doe at 330 yards. I bounced around on a 4 wheeler with it all week, this thing is tough. My confidence in accuracy is peaking. All the guys at deer camp joked about getting shooting lessons from me, I said "just get a Vortex." Vortex is the only thing I'll put on top of my rails from here on out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Optic I bought my first 6x24x50 back in May of this year (2017). I was looking for a top of the line rifle scope and since I had a 4x16x44 HST sitting on a 6.5 Creedmore and let me tell what a deadly combination it is. On with the story, while out in my deer stand out walks an 8pt at the bottom of my field (300 yds away). I have my 300WSM sighted in at .75" high at a 100yds. At 300 yds the bullet hits right around 6.7" low. Now remember the elevation turret is 1/2" increments in this scope, so I adjusted my scope up 4 clicks and when I pulled the 1-1/2lb trigger the bullet was perfectly placed right behind the right leg dropping the 200lb, 8pt in his tracks. Needless to say another deadly combination. I now have purchased a second Viper HS LR 6x24x50 FFP. I'm a die hard Vortex fan and highly recommend this rifle scope to anymore looking for a top "Quality" scope. Not only do you get a top of the line scope, but it will not break the bank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scope for the Money It is a solid build and feels very durable, nothing cheap about it. It comes with a cloth, sticker, all the manuals as well as a 50mm sun shade. It is a beast of a scope, very big, but bigger is better right. The black reticle is not the most distinct, it is clean and clear, but in some cases a little harder to see and the dots and notches can be lost in foliage. On full power (24) it is a little hazy/fuzzy, its pretty hard to find a clean focus when at full power - anything below that though is perfect. The side focus turret is amazing, if you have been using rings all your life, you will love this, way easier to view and adjust at the same time and if your right handed you can keep you hold on your rifle action ready. As stated before the power ring is a little snug and harder to turn, but its probably something that will loosen up a bit after use - It is not 'too' tight though, you'll be fine turning it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch Price for Performance This is my second Vortex optic and I am just as pleased with this one as I was with the Viper PST 1-4. The HS LR has an extremely useful, yet simple reticle that is excellently etched. The glass is as good as always, crystal clear. It feels well made, and looks it too. It's held up to the beating of a 300 Win Mag quite nicely. My only gripe, and a small one, would be that it would have been nice to get this optic and reticle in MILS, versus only in MOA. I would have no problems purchasing another one of these, or recommending it to any one. You won't regret this purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features Used it for my first ever competition at the World's Police and Fire Games at Camp Pendleton this August. Didn't know what to expect. I can see the target very clearly at 600 yards! The windage and elevation knobs have a nice feeling to it. You can feel the clicks as you make your adjustments especially at a loud surroundings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing scope I purchased this scope about 4 months ago. I put it on my Savage 10BA Stealth in 6.5 Creedmoor. I don't think I could be happier with this scope. The clarity of the glass is amazing. I can clearly see my targets even when surpassing 500yrds and an clearly see bullet impact as well. It allows plenty of light even in lower light settings. The turrets make for easy adjustments when needed. I would definitely recommend this scope for anyone looking for a long range setup or even if they just wanted a nice hunting scope. This thing will do it all without breaking the bank!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for Longe Range During the day I have had this Scope for around a year now and love it. We have a range around here that goes out to 1400 yards and I can see pretty clearly out to the target. Adjustment knobs are tight and accurate and easy to adjust using my dope chart. I put a sun shade on mine to get some of the glare out of it and that seemed to help a lot during the day in direct sun. The only reason I am giving a 4 Star is I am kind of disappointed when using it in low light conditions, at 200 yards while hunting in low light it is hard to get true definition of the deer, I’ve also hunted with a Leupold VX-3 and at 200 yards with low light I can see way more definition. Still truly happy with the scope and I would recommend tonother shooters, plus the warranty is awesome.
