The Razor HD 8x42 Binocular from Vortex is smaller, lighter, brighter and stronger than ever before. It is a versatile optic that is ideal for multiple applications from close to long-distance observation. Its lightweight construction and high optical performance make it an extremely desirable viewing instrument.

The binocular renders views in high contrast with accurate color through the use of high-definition (HD) extra-low dispersion (ED) glass, an apochromatic lens configuration, XR-Plus lens coatings, and dielectric and phase-correcting prism coatings, which raise the level of optical excellence for this roof prism binocular. The benefits include excellence in color sharpness, coating durability, overall performance, increased resolution, color fidelity, clarity, brightness, and greater light transmission. Additional lens protection from scratches, oil and dust is provided by the ArmorTek exterior lens coating.

The Razor HD is argon-filled and sealed with O-rings to ensure reliable and durable protection against dust, debris, fog and water. It is rubber armored for non-slip and durable protection, and is equipped with a large focusing knob that is easy to use even while wearing gloves. Naturally contoured to perfectly fit your hands, promoting comfort and eliminating user-fatigue Vortex has once again created a winning combination of features.

Razor HD 8x42 Binocular is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid, Sharp, High-Quality Binoculars for about $ I have tried Bushnell Legend M's, Vortex Viper HD's and Vortex Razor HD's. The Razors are the ones I will be keeping due to the wide IPD range and high-end APO glass. Focusing is buttery-smooth, optics are sharp and these binoculars feel solid and rugged. The lifetime no-fault warranty makes them a no-brainer for anyone looking for binoculars at the $ mark. There are a few that are better, but then again, those binocs (Swaro, for example) start at $ and easily approach $ for roughly the same optical quality. The only reason I am giving the Razors 4 stars instead of 5 is because the cheaper Viper HD's feel better and more balanced in my hands. The Vipers have inferior optics compared to the Razors, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Buy Birding Binocs The Vortex Razor HD 8x42 is totally meeting my birding expectations. I did a side by side comparison with Leica and Swaroffski's 8x42's. They certainly have fine optics but have relative disadvantages of weight, close vision at 6', and price. Razor clarity compares well with both and the feel-in-hand of the Razors is superior. I wear glasses with a strong prescription and have had no difficulty adjusting the Razors to the eye relief I need. The Vortex guarantee is the best. I know someone who shut a car door on their pair and Vortex replaced the pair for no cost even after though it was several years old. The Razors are replacing my Leica compact 10x25 which are wonderful for hiking but have poor field of vision for birding and do not have clarity for shaded viewing. I campared the Vortex Razors to Vortex Vipers - the Razors are worth the extra price for birding or butterfly watching in the field. The Vipers might do well for occasionasl viewing close to home. I do recommend the Razors. I called B&H to inquire about the Razors and had excellent service about the product and shipping. Standard shipping was quite fast and there was no charge for tax or shipping which made the price even more competitive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Glass I selected this product from all the various reviews comparing some of the top binoculars and was not going to spend the $$$ for swarovski. I purchased these specifically for hunting. I have already used them about a dozen times and they are excellent. The clarity of the optics, especially in low light conditions (Dusk and Dawn), is fantastic. Great definition in color and gave me the field of view I was looking for in a 8x42. I would highly recommend these for hunting. If you are looking to do more bird watching I would go with the 10x.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from bright I used to have a pair of swaroskis. The razor is nice and bright and clear. almost as good, almost as comfy. After a few days use I don't notice the difference. My hand fits the Swaroski better but the difference is small and not a game changer. Swaroski was 8.5 and this Razor is 8 magnification so slight difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buying these binoculars was a no brainer, Use these binoculars primarily for birding in Wisconsin and the Texas Gulf n the winter. I was at first hesitant because of the price, but after using them for a couple of field trips I am glad that I bought them I think they are on a par with some of Europe's best binocs and the warranty can't be beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality and excellent price! Bought the Razor HD mainly for birding. Looked around for top of the line binoculars and stumbled across Vortex, compared it with the highest priced brands and must say that I was very impressed! It delivers top of the line sharpness and the build quality is very impressive. It also handles low light conditions at a level I did not think was possible. Have recommended those optics to everyone who asked what to buy. In other words I’m very happy with my Razors (Did also buy the top of the line Razor spotting scope)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Optics Purchased for an upcoming trip to Alaska, these binoculars are clear, bright and sturdily built. Diopter adjustment was quick, and securely locks in place. Focusing is very smooth and the focus knob is very comfortable to use. For the money, I can't imagine a better set of general purpose glasses.
