Music Hall mmf-9.1 Overview

The Music Hall mmf-9.1 Turntable is a two-speed belt driven audiophile turntable employing the company's triple plinth construction. The distinctive design isolates the critical sound reproducing components. The platter, main bearing, tonearm and cartridge are located on the top platform. The adjustable tip toe feet, electronic speed control and wiring which are mounted on the bottom platform. Sorbothane hemispheres separate each of the three plinths and provide additional vibration damping. The motor and switch are isolated on their own vibration damping base and completely decoupled from the turntable. The mmf-9.1 sports a high gloss piano black lacquer finish and comes with the Goldring Eroica LX, a low output moving coil cartridge. The turntable is equipped with the Pro-Ject 9cc carbon-fiber tone arm.

Triple-Plinth Design
The lower plinth has three adjustable spiked feet and comes with a set of small discs (cups). The discs prevent marking of the supporting shelf's surface. A spirit level is incorporated on the top platform. The three platforms of the plinth are separated by four Sorbothane hemispheres, which act as a suspension and isolation system. External phono sockets are attached to the bottom platform. A high quality interconnect is supplied.
Isolated Motor
The 16 volt AC motor is external at the front, left corner of the table and has an electronic speed control that runs the motor at 50Hz instead of 60Hz. (A 50Hz motor runs quieter than a 60Hz motor). The motor rests in a cutout on the front, left quadrant of the turntable. It is completely isolated from the table and sports a blue LED. Placing the motor diagonally opposite the arm reduces any vibrations caused by the belt from entering into the cartridge. Speed change from 33 1/3 to 45 rpm is done at the push of a button.
Acrylic Platter
The belt runs round the perimeter of the 1" (25mm) acrylic platter. Acrylic was chosen for its superior sound quality and isolation properties. The platter sits on an incredibly quiet, inverted ceramic bearing. A soft felt mat is supplied as standard with the table.
Pro-Ject 9cc Tone Arm
The included 9" precision tone arm with carbon-fiber armtube diverts vibrations away from the cartridge and into the mounting board. This results in precise tracing of the record groove by the needle and also facilitates fine adjustment of vertical and horizontal tracing. The headshell and armtube are fashioned from a single piece of carbon fiber. The conical armtube avoids standing wave reflections. The arm bearing housing is a solid ring type with the outside ring open to prevent bell-mode resonances. The design of the counterweight effectively counteracts unwanted resonances. The counterweight shaft lowered to record level reduces antilever forces and dynamic wow when playing warped records. The solid armbase permits accurate height adjustment of the armtube and vertical tracing angle (VTA).
Goldring Eroica LX Cartridge
The mmf-9.1 comes standard with the Goldring Eroica LX cartridge. The Eroica LX is a low-output moving coil cartridge. The Eroica LX was chosen for its low mass, high rigidity body, rare earth Neodymium magnet, and its Gyger II line contact stylus. It is a perfect complement to the audiophile qualities of the mmf-9.1. These features combine to ensure that the mmf-9.1 delivers superior audio performance that will provide years of enjoyment.
