The STX818S Passive 18" Bass Reflex Subwoofer by JBL is a compact, high-power low frequency system capable of handling 1,000W of continuous power. It's rated at 2,000W of program power and 4,000W of peak handling. The 18" Super Vented Gap Cooled woofer is front-loaded into the vented enclosure. The system offers input connection flexibility for compatibility with a variety of cabling schemes. A recessed, external switch allows selection of either contacts +1/-1 or +2/-2.
The STX818S enclosure is constructed of top quality birch/poplar laminate plywood, coated in JBL's rugged DuraFlex finish and is heavily braced to maximize low-frequency performance. It is also equipped with a threaded, pole socket to mount speakers weighing up to 100 pounds. The threaded socket minimizes buzzing and rattling and assures that the pole will be secure and straight. The CNC-machined, 14-gauge steel grille is internally lined with acoustically transparent cloth to provide additional driver protection and give a professional appearance. The rear of the enclosure is fitted with T-nuts which may be used to attach the optional WK-4 caster kit.
