Opteka HG-1 Overview

The Opteka HG-1 Heavy-Duty Grip Handle provides stable handle of a small camera and lets you comfortably get shots from most any angle.

It screws into the underside of a camera by a 1/4" screw and is best suited for small point-and-shoot cameras, small camcorders, and small DSLRs -- small because a heavy camera runs the chance of snapping off of the 1/4" screw upon sudden, unexpected movement. The Handle is the same kind that comes with Opteka's CXS-1 Video Rig and can be used as a second handle with the rig for dual-handle operation.

Opteka HG-1 Reviews

It's heavy...but it's easy to see and grab

I put this on a small quadrapod overhead camera rig with a Camvate frame and a macro focusing rail holding a little Sony A6500 and a medium macro for vertical down shots. It keeps my hand away from grabbing the lens barrel or the focusing macro rail. Red...that means I can expect people to see it, grab it, tilt the rig right and not mess with anything else.

This is a strong and robust grip handle and the red anodizing adds that bling factor. I got this as a additional grip for my Opteka shoulder mount and it works great. It matches the grip it came with perfectly.

This is a beautifully made grip, with a bit of weight to it and a nice dense foam rubber grip. I would say my hands are on the large size but my fingures do not quite touch the pad of my thumb when holding this grip handle. I use it to provide additional support for a Nikon 300mm f4 lens. I added a quick release grip that matches that on the camera body (Nikon D750) and also on the lens. I attach this grip handle to the lens and am amazed how much steadier I can hold the camera with this unit attached. I can easily take pictures at 1/4 sec.with the addition of the lens' image stabilization. By adding this grip to the lens I also have less to worry about in terms of moving the lens focus, in error, while shooting. For the price you don't need to think too long.

Great grip!

Very comfortable and cool looking. I had to ask a couple of people at B&H until I was led to this product but it is an excellent little grip. One of the reasons I keep going back to B&H is you get solid suggestions and often different ones but they seem to really care that you get what you want and need. This grip is small and compact but very sturdy. I use it for a pro-sumer camcorder but it could support a larger, say mid-sized, camera.

Does this have an opening in the bottom so you can screw it onto a stand or monopod and then attach something on top? Thanks

Yes. There is a tripod socket on the bottom so it can be mounted.
