    Opteka CXS-300 reviews

CXS-300 Dual Grip Video Shoulder Stabilizer System for DSLR Cameras is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Prosumer Shoulder Mount Available I own a small production business that where sometimes a tripod just won't do. I had done some extensive research and all results pointed to the red rock micro. However I wasn't' willing to pay that kind of money. This product then caught my eye and I figured I'd give it a try. When I put it together (which took at most three minutes) I was amazed at how durable and well made the parts were. The aluminum is very strong and all the parts fit perfectly onto the 15mm rods. The shoulder rest is very comfortable and can support a lot of weight. And best of all the 15mm rods are universal and can fit as many products as I need onto them. There are no cons that I can find only that I can't use my lens hood because then the screws were in the shot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for. I almost gave this three stars, because it works well and costs much less than similar products. However, construction quality is not good. The camera mounting base plate has three threaded holes, but the holes are cast rather than machined, and I had to run a tap through each of them before they would accept a screw. Also, one of the levers to tighten the shoulder pad stripped out the first time I tightened it. Luckily, I happened to have a machine screw of the same size but a little longer, so it still works. It does have a warranty, but I got it to work on my own, so all is ok.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for DSLR This rig is perfect for DSLR shooting and is adequate for the C300 or similar type of cameras. The only downside is the strength of the rods; they chip easily. Expect to get a good three years out of this rig, maybe more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the Price, Good Build I am very happy with this purchase. The quality of the build is fantastic and everything about it is comfortable. I believe it is absolutely worth the price and an affordable start for anyone looking for a shoulder rig. All metal, where it should be, and a decently comfortable shoulder pad. Grips are nice too, I'd give them an 4/5 stars as well. A nice professional look for a simple rig. Used with a 5D Mark III, Fotasy Follow Focus and works very well. Get weights to balance out the back. If the shoulder pad was a little more form fitting that would have been great. Also the wingnuts are tough to tighten and loosen, which if not done correctly can give you loose connecting points. A pair of pliers or rubber gloves can help that problem though. But I knew what I was getting into and again, am very happy with this purchase. If the two aforementioned minor problems were handled correctly, this would have gotten 5/5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best low budget shoulder stabilizer I'm a college student who films music videos in my free time and this is the most reliable of shoulder stabilizers that give you the best bang for your buck.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good shoulder mount good grips. hard to get tightened down to the point of no slip on parts. it would be great if when the adjustment nuts, when tightned down, all faced the same way, or inline with the frame work of the stabilizer. only other down side it no place to store the key to attach the camera to the mounts. i solved this by wrapping the allen key in rubber bands and am able to slide it into one of the frames tubes. no rattle, and doesnt slip out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good System for the Price I've used this mount a couple of times since I bought it and so far, so good. I like that it's compatible with other gear made for 15mm rods. The only drawback I've discovered so far is that the screw-mount used to attach the camera to the base-plate uses an Allen key and there's no built-in storage for the key itself, so I've had to improvise a solution. Otherwise, I like it a lot.
