Hoya 82mm UV and IR Cut Filter
Key Features
  • Cuts Out UV Rays Below 390 nm
  • Cuts Out IR Rays Above 700 nm
  • Retains Visible Light Spectrum
  • Reduce Effects of Atmospheric Haze
The 82 mm UV and IR Cut Filter from Hoya is a lens filter that, when attached to your lens, permits only the visible spectrum of light rays to enter the camera and get captured by the sensor. It blocks out both the higher frequency ultraviolet rays, and lower frequency infrared light rays. This is important to digital photographers because the CCD and CMOS sensors found in our cameras are extremely susceptible to catching UV and IR rays just outside the visible spectrum that have a very negative impact on image quality.

Can I use this circular filter placed on my lens ...

Can I use this circular filter placed on my lens and carry on a mattebox with square ND filters to avoid IR input? Or will it be better to buy square IRND filters for mattebox? I have little budget and I don't know what a better option.
Asked by: Jose Maria
If the mattebox fits on the camera lens with filter in place you could do it that way.

question

Does this exhibit any tinting at wide angles? (I have a Heliopan UV/IR cut filter which (as advertised) starts to tint green at wider angles (at 24mm & wider).)
Asked by: William
Absolutely awful green tinting/vignetting on the Tokina 11-20mm. Returned it.
