Teradek Cube Series Overview

The Teradek Cube 155 HD-SDI Encoder with Wi-Fi is a wireless camera-top video and embedded audio encoder. It connects to a camera via SDI and streams proxy files/dailies in H.264 to a decoder or website. You can stream by dual-band Wi-Fi wherever a network is available, by Ethernet via an optional router, or by an optional 3G/4G modem connection. You can also store the files to a microSD card as the Cube features a microSD slot with support for up to 32GB cards.

For mounting, the Cube attaches either to a camera's hot shoe or a cage/rig via an included 1/4"-20 mounting screw. Aside from the SDI input, connections consist of an Ethernet port, a 3.5mm line/mic input, and a headphone jack. A micro-USB slot is available for charging and configuring.

The Teradek Cube has a rechargeable internal lithium-ion battery that lasts up to two hours. It can also be powered with the included AC power adapter or by an external battery via a 2-pin LEMO input. An OLED screen indicates the remaining battery life, online status, and the URL being streamed to. Optionally, Teradek offers camera batteries with 2-pin LEMO output so you can easily power both the camera and Teradek with the same battery. The following three 2-pin LEMO batteries can be used for power: the Teradek Canon BP-945, Teradek Panasonic D54, and the Teradek Panasonic VW-VGB6.

question

Does it also transmit a signal that can be received by a standard Teradek receiver?
Asked by: Jordan
Hi Jordan, If you are referring to a Bolt receiver, no. Cube encoders can only transmit to Cube decoders. You are welcome to mismatch Video types. Hope this answered your question. If not, please let us know. Regards,

question

Can you sync two transmitters to the one receiver and then have the ability to A/B them on a single monitor? If not any suggestions on a system? Preferably capable of working on an FS7 system. Thanks
Asked by: Matthew C.
YES YOU CAN WITH THESE CAVEATS: Using the Infrastructure mode, you can monitor up to 4 Cubes on one iPad as a QUAD view or 2 on a iPod or iPhone and switch between them with LOOKS through the app.Search Teradek for 217446337-Cube-to-iPad-with-a-Wireless-Router.Used this setup for Showruunner monitoring of 4 Sony F800's shooting a reality TV series following Zac Brown Band around their concert venues. Adapted the Apple basestation run off a Anton Bauer batt (ran 18 hrs) so it could be moved around the venue as needed. When extreme range was needed used a repeater router. Even with all wireless interference it worked great. You can output this screen to a LCD monitor through iPad/iPod/iPhone Lightning output to TV HDMI for a much larger display. For more info contact Teradek support, they are using a similar system at NAB and other places.

question

How much lag do you get when monitoring on an iPad? Is the lag low enough that it is suitable to be used as a professional director's monitor? Thanks!
Asked by: Robert
We have been using ipads as monitors. the lag is about one second or less the way we are using it (we are using it as the HD camera monitor for our underwater remotely operated vehicule) and we do not see much lag between this monitor and the direct SDI monitor. As I am not a professional director, I do not know how much lag would be problematic (I do underwater video and photos).

question

If I sent a 4K signal into the cube (from let's say a Sony FS7) would it down-convert it to 1080?
Asked by: Anonymous
You would probably have to address that question to Teredek.
