Axis Communications M3203 Overview

The Axis Communications M3203 Tamper-Resistant Fixed Dome Network Camera (10 Pack) uses a 1/4" CMOS chip to deliver consistently clear and sharp images at SVGA resolution. Progressive scan technology ensures smooth image capture for scenes with fast moving objects without the problems of motion blur. A number of electronic picture controls allow images to be fine tuned according to the lighting environment of the surveillance area.

Furthermore, backlight compensation adjusts video gain to correct the exposure when the object is in front of a bright light source. The white balance feature adjusts the red, green, and blue colors taking a standard white reference to get clear images. The Indoor Camera includes features such as privacy masking, text and image overlay, exposure and control.

For video compression, the M3203 Network Camera transmits multiple streams in H.264 and MJPEG video formats at either full frame rates or individually optimized for different quality needs and bandwidth constraints.

A unique feature of this camera is its pixel counter function, which calculates the number of pixels contained in a given part of the image, for example a person's face. This is an important feature for satisfying certain jurisdictions requiring proof of resolution before an image can be submitted for evidence.

Housed in a tamper-resistant casing, the Fixed Dome Camera sends alerts on tampering attempts such as blocking or spray painting the camera. Furthermore, the M3203 Camera includes intelligent capabilities such as video motion detection.

The compact Network Camera can be readily installed on a wall or on the surface of a hard or drop ceiling. An internal hinge mechanism allows quick and accurate camera positioning. The camera is powered using Power over Ethernet (PoE), which allows the camera to receive power directly from its network interface, allowing it to be installed most anywhere and not only near a power supply.

The Fixed Dome Network Camera offers a wide range of optional kits for indoor installations, such as for mounting on a wall, pole, or corner, making it ideal for use in areas such as retail stores and schools.

Compact size makes it suitable for use in retail stores and schools
1/4" MP progressive scan RGB CMOS sensor, a fixed-iris and a 2.8 to 10mm varifocal lens delivering crisp and clear images
Excellent image quality in SVGA resolution (800 x 600 to 160 x 90)
Operates well in a minimum illumination of 0.9 lux at f/1.7 capturing detailed images even in varying ambient lighting conditions
Backlight compensation adjusts video gain to correct the exposure when the object is in front of a bright light source
White balance feature adjusts the red, green, and blue colors taking a standard white reference to get clear images
Multiple H.264 and Motion JPEG streams can be provided either in full frame rate or individually optimized for different quality needs and bandwidth constraints
Pixel counter function calculates the number of pixels contained in a given part of the image, for example a person's face, thereby satisfying certain jurisdictions requiring proof of resolution before an image can be submitted for evidence
Digital pan/tilt/zoom allows enlarging portions of the image so that they can be inspected closely
Tamper-resistant polycarbonate casing protects the camera from tampering attempts such as blocking or spray painting, and the camera triggers an alarm on these occurrences
Power over Ethernet supplies power to camera from the network itself, eliminating the need for power cables and reducing installation costs
Video motion detection features set of alarms in case of unusual sounds or movement
Password Protection restricts access to unauthorized persons
IP Filtering restricts access to one or more user groups; user groups can be created with an IP address range being defined for each group
Digest Authentication uses a system where the network server authenticates a user request through a domain controller and then grants access to authorized users only
User Access Log - maintains a log of all the users that were granted access to the camera image data on the network
HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol over SSL) protects streaming data transmission across the network
