Manfrotto Q2 overview

  • 1Description

Manfrotto's Q2 L Bracket provides a quick, easy, and precise way to change your camera position from a horizontal to a vertical orientation. The lightweight magnesium alloy bracket features anti-rotational systems that provide a snug fit on the camera body, guaranteeing stability even with heavy-duty professional equipment. The bracket keeps the weight centered over the tripod, avoiding lens movement when changing position. While the bracket can be used with cameras without a battery grip, use with a grip is preferable to keep the lens centered. Two 200PL-14 type quick release plates are built into the bracket for Q2 quick releases.

    Manfrotto Q2 reviews

    Q2 L Bracket is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great for me & my Nikons I found it awkward trying to switch from horizontal to vertical using a ball head. I tried others too that didn't do what I wanted. I was watching a Joel Grimes tutorial and saw he was using an L bracket. Couldn't tell which one though. Researched the topic an found many very expensive options. So I looked at the maker of all my rock solid tripods, lightstands, arms - Manfrotto. Turns out they have this L bracket. Some reviews said it didn't fit their cameras right. For me it fits all my Nikon cameras perfectly and is completely adjustable and easy to use. Certainly a bonus is that it fits all my quick release heads.. Now in the studio or the field my horizontal to vertical problem is solved. As usual it is very heavy duty - only this time made out of magnesium so it is quite light by comparison. But heavy duty and I'm sure will last with all my other manfrotto gear.. I'm very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This great product could use some better advertising. I use this bracket to mount my camera to a tripod for studio work with constant lighting. While not described adequately, it does include an effective anti-twist design that holds my camera rock steady even when large lenses are used in the portrait mode. It can be adjusted to fit most any SLR camera and probably others as well. It has soft contact surfaces that do not deface your camera, and it comes with the wrench and measuring tool needed for making adjustments. It costs much less than the single-camera designs while giving you the flexibility of using it on multiple cameras. On the down side, properly adjusting the bracket to your camera is a bit fussy, and changing one part on it really requires 2 wrenches, while only 1 is provided. However, this common 3mm hex key wrench is not hard to find.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why did I wait so long? I use the bracket for landscape photography primarily.Solid, well thought out construction. Adjustable and very easy to use.Quite heavy so strong tripod needed to support it. I use an 055ProB Manfrotto tripod and the match is excellent. The setup is easy but a little fiddly. I use mine with my Nikon D700 and D300 with battery grips, no problems at all. Once positioned the bracket acts as a handy little carrying device.Only issue would be the mounting plates have allen key nut rather than finger adjustable wing nuts like other manfrotto mounting plate. Can't believe it took me this long to get one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for Canon DSLRs I ordered for use with Canon 70D and 5D Mark II. I could mount the cameras but could not center them per included instructions. Bracket covered up slots for shutter cables and HDMI so I couldn't use my CamRanger or cable release. If your camera accessory panels are on the left side, choose another brand bracket with this in mind. I'm giving it 4 stars because the bracket is solidly constructed and for cameras that fit properly it would be a great gear addition for use with Manfrotto Q2 mounting plates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well I use this with my Nikon D7200. Did require getting the grip battery to have correct alignment when switching from landscape to portrait, but I don't mind having the grip battery for many reasons. It took a bit of time to set it up, but not hard. And it's a bit bulky on the camera, but that doesn't matter either as this is only used when on the tripod. Can still use shutter cord attached to the camera even with the L bracket attached. Happy to have the level. Had good luck with a panaromic this weekend, and looking forward to many more!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but flawed execution Unless you use a pro sized body or have an add on grip on your camera, it will be impossible to center the lens both vertically and horizontally as shown in the mounting directions. That means moving the tripod head slightly when changing shot orientation. I contacted Manfrotto, and was told it was a universal bracket that isn't fully compatible with my camera, a Nikon D7000. If they included a simple riser that would make their universal design truly universal. Acces doors on side of camera blocked by solid bar design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I wish I'd had one before An L bracket makes turning you camera from shooting in landscape mode to shooting in portrait mode a breeze. C of G of camera stays over the top of the tripod. I only wish I'd done this years ago instead of wrestling with the head turend right over making the balance of the camera on the tripod precarious. Only drawback of the Manfrotto model is that it is generic: designed to be fitted to (rather than a good fit for) any SLR. I had to purchase an IR trigger release because the cable release cannot be mounted on my EOS 5DIII with the L bracket in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed for my Manfrotto setup. I have the Q2 L Bracket fitted on my Nikon D-800 permanently, as I use my Manfrotto tripod constantly. The L-bracket is easy to fit and makes switching from portrait to landscape mode effortless and fast. The only minor negative is that I have to remove the L-bracket every time I need to change the battery.
