  • 1Description

Manfrotto's Q5 L Bracket provides a quick, easy, and precise way to change your camera position from a horizontal to a vertical orientation. The lightweight magnesium alloy bracket features anti-rotational systems that provide a snug fit on the camera body, guaranteeing stability even with heavy-duty professional equipment. The bracket keeps the weight centered over the tripod, avoiding lens movement when changing position. Two 501PL quick release plates are built into the bracket for use with the Q5 quick release.

    Manfrotto Q5 reviews

    Q5 L Bracket is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design! I wish Manfrotto and Gitzo had kept in mind that in order to appreciate a product, that product had to have secure as opposed to free roaming pieces! Why did they forget to include the rubber little plugs Gitzo had on all its ball heads to prevent screws to free themselves? Sure, by providing a second set of screws that would minimize losses and curses, some care was shown, but certainly not enough! Gee, what a shame not to think of keeping screws in place, and by the same token customers happy! As usual the devil is in the details, with enough carelessness so as not to use either this or the Gitzo quick release plate. A waste of money, no doubt!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Bought this L-Bracket for my D800 to use on the Gitzo GH3780QR Ball Head. That's right. This Manfrotto L-Bracket works on Gitzo Ball head as well since the Manfrotto Q5 Plate is exactly the same as the Gitzo GS5370MC Plate. I originally thought I need to change the quick release of GH3780QR to a Arca type quick release in order to use a Kirk or RRS L-Bracket. luckily I found this L-Bracket. It not only fits on a Manfrotto Ball Head with Q5 plate, it fits the Gitzo GS5370MC just as well. The construction of this L-Bracket is well engineered and built with strong and light magnesium. Once mounted on a tripod, it changes from horizontal to vertical position in a breeze.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Read before you buy Sure it's built solid and looks good but if you don't own a camera with a battery grip such as a D5 or a IDx system, it won't work properly. In order to fully align the bracket symmetrically, both the X and Y axis must have the same distance between them. Meaning the distance from the barrel of the lens to the bottom of the release plate. It's simply not possible to do so without a battery grip unless you want to cover the battery door of the camera, should it be located on the bottom like most cameras like my 5Diii.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I am returning it I have a Manfrotto tripod with Q5 mount, and a Canon 7D. This is about the only L-bracket I could find with the Q5 mount. When it arrived, I found that it was heavy, bulky and difficult to attach to the camera. It blocks the cable release and the battery compartment. I will be returning this to B&H (they have been wonderful with these situations) and ordering a different mount for the tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Addition This bracket is strong and light, I would have rated it a 5 except for the fact you have to remove it to change the battery on a Nikon D700 and D4. Installation was very easy and it is really easy to us once installed. It is really nice to have the hex key wrench stored in the bracket since you need it to remove the bracket.I should have bought this years ago

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Standard needs to catch up with Arca Swiss I've been a loyal Marfrotto user for a long, long time. This product is well built, but it is big, heavy, and cumbersome compared to other products designed around the Arca-Swiss standard. For a manufacturer to come up with a different standard, the new one has to be at least equal if not better than the established standard. the Q5 standard is neither.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Heavy, not balanced This product is a L bracket with 2 quick release tripod attachments, making it heavy compared to others that use just the L bracket which fits the quick release tripod head without extra brackets. The manual shows setting up the bracket on the camera so that the axis center point doesn't change when you switch from horizontal to vertical position, but on my Nikon D750 and Canon 7D the bracket wouldn't set up without a significant difference between horizontal and vertical. Using a remote cable release required moving the bracket even more to gain room for the cable release connection. So, forget about using it so that your axis center point will stay the same regardless of position. The video on the Manfrotto web page shows a camera with a battery pack on the bottom of the camera. This does work because it makes the distance from the bottom of the lens to the bottom plate equal to the distance from the side of the camera to the other side of the L bracket. But for cameras that don't have a bottom battery pack it will not set up as in the manual or the video. If you don't mind the out of alignment issue then it works fine, hence the Yes, I would recommend this to a friend rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good one! This L Bracket works great. I have been searching for a L Bracket that would work on a Manfrotto Ballhead for a long time. Finally found this one that meets my need. It flips the camera from horizontal to vertical on the fly and yet secures the camera on top of the ballhead without tilting the heavy lens downward when posing for a portrait shot. The bracket itself is well built with light and strong magnesium.
