Axis Communications M3114-R Overview

The Axis Communications M3114-R Network Camera (2mm Lens, M12 Connector) is a rugged IP camera that is fully EN50155 compliant making it suitable for use in transportation applications, such as buses, trains, subway cars, and emergency vehicles. With an IK10- and IP66/IP67-rating, the M3114-R Camera is rugged enough to withstand vibrations, shocks, bumps, and temperature fluctuations (-13 to 122° F / -25 to 50° C), maintaining stable and reliable video.

An integrated dehumidifying membrane keeps the viewing window from fogging up in high humidity. The camera also has the ability to activate an alarm when it senses the lens being blocked, spray painted or otherwise tampered with.

Built into the camera are a number of picture controls serving to help the camera cope with challenging lighting conditions. Chief among them are backlight compensation and wide dynamic range, both of which will aid the camera in maintaining proper exposure levels in extreme lighting situations. The camera's progressive scan imager ensures blur-free images for scenes with fast moving objects.

A unique feature of this camera is its pixel counter function, which calculates the number of pixels contained in a given part of the image, for example a person's face. This is an important feature for satisfying certain jurisdictions requiring proof of resolution before an image can be submitted for evidence.

For video compression, the Network Camera transmits multiple streams in H.264 and MJPEG video formats at either full frame rates or individually optimized for different quality needs and bandwidth constraints. The camera's flat chassis design helps it maintain a low profile appearance and blends in with the surrounding environment, thereby, reducing your customers' unease about being under surveillance.

The M3114-R Camera is designed for quick installation. The included lens tool helps you achieve the desired viewing direction. Additionally, if you required a lens with a different angle of view, the lens tool can be used to exchange and focus the new lens. The Network Camera is compatible with PoE, which allows it to receive power directly from its network interface, allowing it to be installed most anywhere in your home and not only near a power supply.

Video Surveillance in Vehicles
EN50155 compliant - camera is suitable for use in mobile video surveillance in buses, trains, subway cars and emergency vehicles
Vibration Resistance and Tampering Alarm
IK10- and IP66/IP67-rating makes the camera rugged enough to withstand vibrations, shocks, bumps, and temperature fluctuations (-13 to 122° F / -25 to 50° C), maintaining stable and reliable video
Active tampering alarm can detect tampering attempts such as blocking or spray-painting
Clear Images
Support for HDTV 720p streaming at full frame rate
Adapted to respond quickly to changes in light levels, ensuring that high image quality is maintained
Backlight compensation adjusts video gain to correct the exposure when the object is in front of a bright light source
White balance feature adjusts the red, green, and blue colors taking a standard white reference to get clear images
Progressive scan technology produces clearer images of moving objects
Pixel counter helps verify that the pixel resolution of an object or face meets regulatory or specific customer requirements
Quick and Reliable Installation
Lens tool facilitates the achieving a leveled image and desired field of view by directing and rotating the ball that holds the lens and image sensor
PoE support further simplifies installation since only one cable is needed for carrying power and video
Intelligent Features
Video motion detection feature compares the current frame with a pre-determined standard frame to accurately trigger an alarm if motion is detected
API (Application Program Interface) supports an open API for software integration, including the ONVIF specification and the VAPIX and Axis Camera Application Platform from Axis Communications
Quality of Service (QoS) to maximize network efficiency
Security
Password Protection restricts access to unauthorized persons
IP Filtering restricts access to one or more user groups; user groups can be created with an IP address range being defined for each group
Digest Authentication uses a system where the network server authenticates a user request through a domain controller and then grants access to authorized users only
User Access Log - maintains a log of all the users that were granted access to the camera image data on the network
HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol over SSL) protects streaming data transmission across the network
