Video was sparkling and breaking up. Only running 2 ft of 1080p at 59fps.
It was nice they included a 75ohm terminator which is a must if you only plug 1 output in! Both my outs where running into a shinobi monitor and a teradek wireless TX on my camera. Using 1855a cable, should have not had a problem. Bought 2 and swapped it out and 2nd one no good as well. Too good to be true, don't risk it. I swapped it out for a Freakshow DA which I highly recommend. Worked like a charm and about the same size plus it's lighter.

I'm running SDI down a 100' of coax and using this splitter to sent my image to two large TVs on stage. It works perfectly.

The Apantac DA-2HD splitter can be used for additional monitor feeds, remote camera locations, and situations where size and weight are critical factors such as racing cars, bikes, and other sporting and research applications. It can create two broadcast quality signals from one input, supporting all formats up to and including HD. Also, it can drive SDI signals up to 100 meters (330 ft).

How is this any better than a simple T style bnc adapter?

The Apantac Passive 1 x 2 Triple-Rate Splitter for 3G/HD/SD-SDI, CVBS & ASI is a distribution amplifier that also boosts the output signals for longer cable runs without signal loss, whereas simple BNC T-adapters just split the signal, which can result in a weaker signal and loss.

How does this SDI splitter operate without a power supply? It seems like all the other units like it require one.

According to Apantac, this passive splitter has minimal internal wiring, and draws power through the SDI connection.

No, the Apantac Passive 1 x 2 Triple-Rate Splitter for 3G/HD/SD-SDI, CVBS & ASI is passive; it will not re-clock the signal. For a re-clocked signal, you would need to look at the Apantac 3G-SDI 1x4 Re-Clocking Distribution Amplifier, B&H # APDA4HD, instead. See: https://bhpho.to/2EkR1Ue.
