Kupo KG002312 Reviews
Talk about the notch!
There's a super helpful flat notch on one side that helps secure it in place without spinning. This is the best feature.
Just What I needed
Does exactly what I need to do. So happy.
Sturdy little mounting plate is a great value.
I bought this for the obvious reason, to mount a head to a super/Mafer clamp...or anywhere else that accepts a 5/8 stud. This Kupo version seemed to be the best value, and it is by far. I considered another that had a hex stud, because I thought there would be less chance of slippage. But this Kupo has a flat surface on the indented area, so the clamp's locking screw keeps it from moving. Perfect. And it does have three set screw for locking your head in place. Rugged, well build. Highly recommend!
It's okay
It's does what it's suppose to, but since it doesn't have the hex shape it moves and losses out of place when you move it back in forth. The manfrotto version does have the hex, I'd rather buy that one.
Endless Possibilities
With your favorite tripod head mounted to this and a SuperClamp to hold the stud anything that is solid enough to securely hold your camera becomes a tripod / camera support.wether it be a tree branch or gaurd rail or light stand. basicly anything with a 5/8 socket or method of attaching a socket becomes fair game as camera support
quality piece of equipment
We use these studs as the intermediary between light stands with grip heads and a camera slider. This is a solid piece of equipment that really isn't done justice by its picture. It worked great, offering good stability because of the wide plate at the base of the screw. In our case, the stud is mounted directly to the bottom of the slider which is made of aluminum. I would prefer some thin plastic or nylon washer to avoid the metal on metal action, but that's not a huge concern. Since the stud and the plate don't come apart, it won't store very flat, but again, a very minor concern for a quality piece of mounting equipment.
Adds new life
This accessory adds new life to my Manfrotto Ball Head. With the locking mechanism enabled, the ball head is more secure. This enables me to use heavier lights and cameras in multiple positions.
Nice addition to my grip kit
I like that this has a round stud rather than a hex stud as this gives me greater flexibility with super clamps, mini clamps, and other 5/8 sockets. Well made, should last me forever.
