The Gitzo G1173-14B Quick Release Plate fits the G1172, G1276 and G1276M, G1387B and G1285B heads, and features an adjustable 1/4"-20 camera screw with video pin.
A quick release plate can be kept attached to the camera's base and allows the user to quickly and easily attach or remove the camera from the tripod without having to waste time fumbling with the threaded mount.
I contacted B&H via live chat to find out which quick release plate would fit my Gitzo 1720 Pan Tilt Head. They recommended this one. When I got it, I discovered it was the wrong one. Fortunately the customer service rep realized it was their error in making the wrong recommendation and sent me a return label at no cost to me. I then ordered the Gitzo GS5370C and it worked perfectly. So if you have the 1720 pan tilt head, or some of the older versions, look at the photos carefully -- you may need the Gitzo GS5370C instead of this plate. Hopefully B&H will update their information. Giving 3 stars -- 1 star for the wrong recommendation, 5 stars for the return process.
I brought mainly as a spare for my Gitzo G1276M head. Excellent quality and works as it should.
