Avantone Pro SSM overview

  • 1Description

The Avantone SSM Professional Shockmount greatly reduces microphone noise caused by vibration, handling, etc. The SSM features a weighty, all-metal construction that makes it durable and further aids against energy transference that may cause noise. Its 4 o-ring suspension bands are durable and made of a resilient ethylene propylene material that is highly resistant to breaks and tears. The o-rings may be attached horizontally, vertically, or crossed for added tension. The SSM will successfully mount Avantone microphones, or third-party microphones measuring 0.74 - 0.86" (19 - 22mm) in diameter.

Fits Most Microphones with a 0.74 - 0.86" (19mm-22mm) Diameter Body Including:

    Avantone Pro SSM reviews

SSM Professional Shockmount is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Heavy Rock solid but to much heavy for boompole use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A solid shock These Avantone SSM shockmounts are fantastic for small diaphragm mics. They are low profile, solid all-metal construction, and reasonably priced. The bands can be replaced if they get worn out over time. My only negative would be that they are pretty heavy...but that's not really too big of a deal in most circumstances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shockmount By far one of the better shockmounts. First, it is metal, not plastic. This means with a heavier microphone or shotgun microphone you can torque down on the screw for the correct axis angle. To many of the palstic mounts, a heavy microphone will dip or the screw won't hold the weight

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product but different from picture This is a heavy duty product but in the image shown for the product it shows a bunch of cross rubber pieces to hold the mic. The one that comes only had 1/3 rd of the rubber pieces crossing. Great product / no as shown

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Professional weight The construction of this shock mount is of extremely sturdy metal, even down to the tightening screw. The threading is impressively deep, almost twice that of most microphone clips. I'm sure the rubber bands are good for mild shock absorption, but unfortunately I couldn't use this shock mount. That's because I normally have an XY stereo pair on a single mic stand and having two of these proved to be dangerously heavy with the boom extended. They would definitely work well without a boom, though, and probably work perfectly for single mics. And as another reviewer mentioned, there are only two rubber band loops on either end that cross each other perpendicularly, while the displayed diagonal bands are not actually there. I would also be careful with cardioid type mics where the capsule has open notches, as they might scratch through the rubber bands if passed through them head-first after many mounts and dismounts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Build As others have stated, this mount is well built and feels very solid. I've employed it as a studio shock mount for a Sennheiser 416, Sennheiser 406 and other SDC mics with stellar results. Too bad it couldn't boast, Made In USA.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good buy This shockmount is a good buy, does what it says. not the best out there, but certainly has a good price/feature ratio. Holds a shotgun mic and reduces vibrations
