The Cavision Plate-Style Balance Bracket for 15mm Rods is a rod-mount camera platform with 1/4" and 3/8" tripod-mount threads underneath. The top platform features a 1/4" camera screw and two rubber pads that'll better support a camera. The rod pass-throughs are 15mm and are spaced industry-standard 60mm. Cavision R15P80 Reviews
Does it's job, but not the best

Not the best. The screw is really short, it didn't even work for what I needed. I got a longer screw and it was just fine. It never really feels tight on the rails as the lever can only move one half turn. It works well for holding my Tascam recorder, I wouldn't trust it to hold a camera. On the positive side, it is made of metal and feels like quality it just doesn't work as well as it should.

question
Will this Cavision mount let me do the same thing as the Redrock Micro low Base Tall Camera Baseplate only for less than 1/3 the price?
essentially, yes. lower quality build however. it took some fiddling and modification in order to get both rods to secure tightly. still kind of finicky, but I purchased for occasional use. If you're using it on a regular basis, I could see it becoming frustrating when one rod slides and rotates on you in a way that you can never really feel secure with the unit.
