It has both feet and meters, and it's built solid. I use this for zone focusing with instant and film cameras, and it works great. It's a bit bigger than I anticipated, but it doesn't get lost in the bag either. It doesn't self coil - it has a winding handle, which takes a bit more time to roll back up with, but it won't break or jam as much.

The Cavision Cinematographers 65' Tape Measure's tape is 0.55 inches wide or 14mm. As for legibility, that would depend your your specific eyesight, but the black numbers on the white tape do make the tape fairly easy to read from a distance.
