The D/Focus Systems D/Focus V3 Follow Focus with D/Gear Lens Gear is among the most affordable follow focus systems out there and offers most every feature a follow focus can have.
It mounts and tightens onto a pair of standard size 15mm rods, and slides sideways to line up with a lens (and thus supports different lens diameters). It mounts on either side of the camera, left or right, per a reversible gear plate. It supports both cine lenses and SLR still lenses. And it features an adjustable gearbox tension that can reduce backlash to near zero, meaning no gaps, no space, no looseness, between gears, and hence more fluid focus pulls.
Cine lenses are supported natively. The follow focus's drive gear is a perfect 0.8 match for the 0.8 teeth of all cine lenses. And still lenses are compatible per the use of D/Gear. D/Gear is a lens gear that wraps around a still lens and outfits it with 0.8 teeth to match the drive gear. D/Gear comes with all the mini-accessories necessary for compatibility with almost any-sized lens.
The entire system is complete with a 3D marking disk for marking focus stops, and with a standard size port on the focusing wheel for separately-sold whips and cranks to be attached (in order to allow an assistant to stand near you and pull focus for you from a foot or more away).
