Case Logic DCB-308 overview

  • 1Description

The black DCB-308 SLR Camera Sling from Case Logic allows you to carry your gear on your back but easily swing the bag to the front when you need rapid access to your gear. It holds a wide variety of gear including your SLR with a kit lens or your DSLR with grip attached (when stored vertically). The bag is divided into two halves with the bottom reserved for your photo gear and the top zippered compartment saved for your personal items such as a jacket, book or snack.

When you wish to shoot, simply swing the sling to the front and retrieve your gear through the side zippered pocket. Inside, the movable dividers allow you to configure the bag to suit whatever equipment you are carrying on a given day. Instead of photo gear, you can also store your tripod inside the side pocket and hold it in place with the included buckle.

For more storage capability, an internal zippered pocket located on the lid is provided for memory cards, filter or cleaning cloth. The front of the sling has another large zippered pocket for more gear-photo or otherwise.

Carrying the sling is easy. The padded strap is adjustable and supported by a sternum strap that helps maintain stability while walking. A top carry handle is also provided for when you simply need to grab the sling out of a closet or trunk of your car. The sling style has one major advantage over traditional shoulder bags. Aside from the fast access to your gear, the strap eliminates the need for a standard shoulder strap that often slips out of position, twists, or gets in the way while you're shooting.

The DCB-308 SLR Camera Sling comes with a handy rain cover that can be readily deployed when the weather turns against you. When not used, store it in its own included stuff sack. The sling is covered by Case Logic's 25-year warranty.

    Case Logic DCB-308 reviews

DCB-308 SLR Camera Sling (Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag - almost Well made, good quality sling bag. Holds my Pentax k20d w/grip very well. will be able to hold probably 3 lenses and a large flash. Lots of other ancillary storage with that. Easy to use and COMFORTABLE to carry. I'm a large guy and this thing fit me without any pinches or binds. Haven't used in hot weather so don't know if it is cool to the back but has mesh for that purpose. Has an AW snuggy that fits it very nicely. The bag stands up on its own and doesn't topple or slouch. I can only give 4 stars because the partitions don't work for me. Not enough velcro sides and not enough (extra) dividers to personalize. Other than that it would be a 5 all day long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome - Versatile This bag is great! I recently received a Canon T5i and wanted to purchase some lenses. This bag allows me to carry multiple lenses and cameras at the same time. On a recent trip I was able to fit the Canon T5, Canon T5i, both standard lenses, 18-300, 55-250, and the 40mm pancake with room to spare, and that was all in the main compartment, leaving the top pouch for sunglasses and a couple bars for the trip. The side pouch for the tripod fits my old, relatively clunky tripod (that I want to replace soon), very well. I would definitely recommend this bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good light weight bag I bought this sling bag as a means to pack a couple of lens and equipment I need for an outing of shooting.I like the sling design to swing the bag in front of you to access the contents without taking off the bag. The bag's main pocket has ample room to hold a camera with a telephoto lens plus a couple of extra lens. The bag has a second smaller strap that locks the bag on your back more like a backpack design. If you bend over with just the sling secured the bag will flip to the front of you. There is a Velcro strip that holds the excess strap of the sling. If you don't fold the Velcro right it could scrape your neck when the bag swings around.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bag at a decent price Eventually chose this bag instead of the Thinktank Photocross 13, or the Mountainsmith Descent, because of the price. Neither of the other 2 choices offered enough benefit to justify the extra expense. This bag is well designed and very comfortable, I am happy with the purchase. It should have a water bottle holder (as should most of these bags, but very few do) and the zip on the top section is backwards, meaning that it cannot be opened while the bag is horizontal, without the risk of dropping the contents. Considering the age of this bag, this oversight should have been corrected years ago. Overall quality, including the zips seems very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent purchase I purchased this bag because I wanted a slingback that wasn't heavy or on the large size but would be capable of holding everything I needed for day trips. This was the perfect bag for it! My Nikon D3300 with lens kit, telephoto lens, batteries, cords, manuals, tripod all fit and I still have loads of space for all my extras (rain jacket, phone, wallet, book, snacks). I love the fact that it comes with a rain shield. It is basic black with a great orange interior, very durable, and has adjustable straps to make a comfortable fit. Since owning this, I find that I grab it every time I leave the house and it has made a big difference in never missing the perfect photo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bag, Great Price Before purchasing this bag I did a lot of research. I had three primary criteria: 1. Easy to carry. 2. Easy to access on the go. 3. Weather resistant. I wasn't specifically looking for a sling bag when I started my search, but I decided it was the best option. It's perfect for taking on day hikes because it rides easily on your shoulders and you can easily get your camera out of the bag when you spot wildlife or a scene you want to capture. It also has an all weather cover in a pouch inside the top compartment. The pouch is attached to the inside of the bag with a clip. After purchasing this bag I compared it with the Lowepro 202 AW. Both bags are about the same size, have many of the same features and appear to be of similar build quality. Both also had a similar number of pockets and compartments. The Lowepro had some appealing features the DCB-308 didn't have. It appears to have more space inside for lenses and accessories; and it definitely is more configurable. The flap of the main compartment on the Lowepro can be opened along the top and the front, where the DCB-308 can only be opened from the top. (I'm refering to the top as the side that's up when you swing the sling bag around to your front.) This gives you more options for configuring the Lowepro since you can arrange the dividers to access the camera from the top and the lenses from the front. It also has more partitions than the DCB-308. There were a few more appealing features of the Lowepro. First the top compartment appears to be slightly larger and the rain cover is attached to the bag, so you can't lose it. The Lowepro also had softer fabric on the shoulder strap, but this shouldn't be a problem unless wear the bag without a shirt. Now for the features of the DCB-308. It has a pocket on the front that's large enough to put a tablet computer in and possibly a netbook. This was important to me since I like to take my Nexus 7 along. It also has velcro strap retainers that allow you to roll up the free ends of the straps and secure them with velcro tabs. For me the decision came down to comfort and the tablet pocket. I tried both bags on in a local store and found the DCB-308 more comfortable, but this may be a matter of personal comfort everybody is built differently so a backpack or sling computer will fit different people differently. I have only one complaint, and this is why I gave this bag only four stars. The first time I took the bag on a hike one of the soft rubber zipper pulls on the front came off. I could have sent the DCB-308 back at this point, so I decided to look at different bags. I went to the local store to compare the two bags I've mentioned. Eventually I decided to keep the DCB-308 and just glue the zipper pull back on. It isn't worth the hassle of sending it back. As I said, this bag and the Lowepro are similar and they're both good bags, but if I didn't need the tablet compartment I'd go with the Lowepro. It has a slight edge in size and convenience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little bag! Good size sling bag. In this I can hold a midsize DSLR (Nikon D5500) with a total of 4 lenses. There is room for my series of ND filters, camera remotes, and plenty of storage for my batteries, cables, chargers, as well as an iPad (regular size!). My tripod fits on the exterior along the side. Also comes with a rain cover. Nice and compact, but holds it all -- except for a water bottle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made and functional I wanted a camera bag that would hold a Panasonic ZS20 compact, Sony compact video, and my Canon SX10 cameras. With separate compartments, that are easy to access, this bag meets my needs perfectly. The design was well thought out with numerous pockets. The overall size is not too big, which was also important to me.I did a considerable amount of research before deciding on this bag. Looked at LowePro that in my opinion is over priced and not that well assembled. Another deciding factor is past experience with B&H. They have a terrific shipping department that takes care with the packaging and gets it out the door in quick order. I should also include B&H on-line ordering department as they do a great job with the processing. Thanks for that!
