question

Does this work with laptop model A1211?
Asked by: akira
No, it doesn't. Macbook Pro's from 2006 use the original MagSafe Power Adapter. This product is the new MagSafe 2 Power Adapter which was released in 2012, and it will not fit where you plug it in on your laptop. The correct charger for your laptop is the 85W MagSafe Power Adapter, not the 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter.

question

will this work on my 2015 macbook pro with retina .. my charger says 60W and dont know if it has to be the same
Asked by: prite m.
It depends on what wattage charger is specified for your MacBook- larger ones like the 15 require higher wattage chargers than smaller ones or MacBook Airs. If your MacBook came with a 65watt charger then it's ok to replace that with a higher wattage charger (for instance 85 watts). What you never want to do is go the other way: replacing the specified charger with one providing less wattage. That can cause the underpowered charger to overheat as the mac tries to draw more watts than the charger can provide. Hope this makes sense. Enjoy your MacBook!
