Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 overview

  • 1Description

The Evoluent VerticalMouse 4: Wireless Right Hand Mouse avoids forearm twisting and supports your hand in an upright neutral posture. Many users, including medical doctors, ergonomists and physical therapists, have said the VerticalMouse provides superior comfort.

Neutral Posture and Superior Comfort
The shape is thoughtfully sculpted for uncompromised comfort and easy-to-reach programmable buttons. No finger contortions are needed to operate the buttons.

Improved Thumb Rest
The thumb rest has been reshaped to provide even more comfort over earlier versions.

Now Two Thumb Buttons
A new bottom thumb button provides greatly extended functionality when used with the included driver.

Extended Lip Prevents Rubbing
An extra wide lip along the bottom edge prevents the last finger from rubbing the desk.

Adjustable Laser Sensor
Pointer speed controls on the side allow convenient adjustment without even releasing your grip from the mouse.

Pointer Speed Indicators
Top mounted LEDs show through the chrome thumb rest to indicate selected pointer speed including extra low, low, medium, and high.

Mini Receiver
The tiny 2.4 GHz receiver avoids being knocked off the side of a notebook computer.

Powerful and Intuitive Driver
Evoluent Mouse Manager for Windows provides extensive but easy to use functionality for 6 buttons through a simple and intuitive interface.

Approved Mouse of University of California at Berkeley
The Evoluent VerticalMouse 2 (an earlier model identical in concept) was evaluated in 2007 by a team at the health services clinic in UC Berkeley, including medical doctors, physical therapists, ergonomists, and administrators. It was found to be comfortable, easily adapted to, and promote a neutral wrist and forearm posture. It was the only vertical type mouse approved for staff use within UC Berkeley and for sale in the campus store at that time.

    Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 reviews

VerticalMouse 4: Wireless Right Hand Mouse is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for me I bought this mouse because of pain I was having in my wrist. I have the small version because I have very small hands. In fairness, the wrist pain has improved but because the mouse raises my hand up, part of my hand (near the wrist) drags on the mouse pad and is a little sore and red. I think you need a pad to support the arm when using this mouse. I am looking for a new mouse that isn't so high. Also the mouse is ugly and cheap looking. The name, Evoluent is lit in bright green as well. It works well enough otherwise and might be fine for some hands or if you are willing to figure out how to support your arm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is great I use this mouse for work. i do some web design and other types of developing. pros - my arm posture using the mouse just feels more natural. I have a small gel wrist pad as well and together my arm is always comfortable. I rarely get any pain anymore from using a mouse. Also, the wireless functionality is great (Win 7 64 bit). No issues with connectivity or with the laptop recognizing my movements.Cons - Really, it was hard for me to finally decide to spend $ for a mouse. Thats money that could have been used elsewhere. However, I'd rather spend that money now on a mouse to save me some pain then spending more money down the road on surgery or physical therapy to help correct something else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only mouse for me! This is the only mouse I'll ever use. Easily customizable. The only issue I have is when I dropped it. I've done it twice now and both times it broke and I had to buy a new one....just be careful with it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty good overall but has few glitches I had a ergonomic microsoft mouse before and it was an easy transition to use this mouse. I use this mouse about 8 hours a day, 5 days a week as I work as a programmer. Pros: It is very easy to setup and use. I love the extra buttons which I use for copy and paste functions. This is setup in the evoluent software. Cons: -The mouse feels very flimsy for the amount of money I paid for it. I feel like if I drop it once, it will shatter into pieces. -The mouse drops connection once in a while but reconnects very quickly within seconds but it is annoying when I am programming. So overall I am disappointed in this mouse. For the money I spent, I expected better. Why do they not make a bluetooth mouse for windows but only for MAC?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mouse I was given information on this mouse from our Ergonomics Reviewer. He suggested it for me, but in a small with a wire. I purchased this one without the wire instead. It takes a little getting used to, but it does more than a standard mouse and really does alleviate the stress on your forearm. I have tennis elbow and this has helped reduce the pain. I am trading it in for a small wireless mouse, which I think will be even better for me!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Verticle Mouse the way to go! I've been using this verticle mouse since 2002! I have mild carpel tunnel syndrome that affects the wrist! It can be painful but that pain and discomfort has been drastically reduced since using the Verticle Mouse! It may feel a little 'unnatural' at first but once you get used to it you won't want to go back to the 'flat' mouse! If you don't have any wrist problems, now is the best time to get a Verticle Mouse as a preventative measure!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, but takes some getting-used-to I have some arthritis in my right thumb, and this mouse was recommended by my therapist. It is comfortable, and it works well. What requires getting used to is that I often inadvertently click the lower button (takes the place of a right-click). Up pops a context-sensitive options window, one I didn't really want. As I get used to this mouse, I'm sure I'll have fewer instances of this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Ergonomic Mouse I purchased this ergonomic mouse for personal / home use with my new laptop (I already use the same mouse with my computer at work). It takes some getting use to when you first start using it, but once you get used to it it's great. It really helps if you use the computer all day for work or if you have tendonitis in the hands and wrists.
