Vello EPPN-DK17 Reviews
D800 Owners - Do Not Buy This !!!
Do not buy this if you own a D800. The description says it fits the Nikon D800 but it does not. The screw thread is way too long and you won't be able to close the eyepiece shutter even if you could get it in. In addition there is no clear plastic/glass over the eyepiece hole which would leave dust and grit to fall easily into the camera and damage your sensor. Wish I had read the earlier review on this item and avoided buying it. I have returned it to B&H, first time ever for me, and I buy a lot from them.
Soft & Cushy But No Glass in Eyepiece
I shoot 3,000 - 5,000 frames a week covering sports. The soft eyepiece is a great idea and works well. Except, the eyepiece glass in the Nikon DK-17 is absent!? Why must the glass be eliminated to gain the soft replacement eyepiece? If I'm mistaken, and the glass can be used in conjunction with the Vello EPPN-DK17, I'd love to know about the work-around.
Waste of Money
The threaded portion on the eye piece is too long so the eye piece presses up on the diaphram when you try to secure it - to use one can't secure the eye piece and have to screw it in about 2 turns and leave it there - I will not use this in my camera - clearly not made for the D800
