Canon Ec-II overview

  • 1Description

The Canon Ec-II Eyecup fits onto all film and digital EOS 1 series cameras, except for the Mark III series. Camera Eyecups provide cushioning around the camera's eyepiece, and are especially useful to eyeglass wearers.

Canon Ec-II reviews

Eyecup EC-II is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from They should sell these in bulk... I would normally never write a review about an eyecup but this $ piece is the only complaint I've ever had about my 1D Mk2n. I have gone through no fewer than seven of these eyecups in the two years that I've owned the camera. It constantly falls of with the least bit of pressure. If the camera is over my shoulder it will inevitably brush agains my side and slip off. The last one popped off and fell into a sewer the day after I purchased it. I highly recommend using a bit of gum adhesive to help secure the eyecup otherwise you will be purchasing another. I would go without it completely if not for the fact that it protects the diopter adjustment from refocusing constantly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cups your eyes. Yes! This is an absurdly necessary piece of equipment that can reduce your expensive camera to a cumbersome hulk if it gets lost. Bringing your Mark II up to your face without the piece on is kind of like caressing a brick. There's no standoff between your eye and the viewfinder. You wind up smashing your face against the camera to view the data, see the meter and adjust the focal point. This piece helps that a lot. That said, there's no reason this piece cost as much as it does and is so easily detached and lost. It is a piece of hard plastic surrounded by softer plastic. It is held on to to camera only by two small clips. For the price, it should be attached more securely or at least come with more than one per package.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could be better The EC-II Eyecup by Canon was made to be easily removed and replaced, the problem with that is it comes off a little too easily. Under normal usage, it's a good design. However, when you have your camera slung across your back and the eyecup rubs against your body or other equipment, it has a tendency to come off the camera. The locking design could be a better to prevent this from happening. The bottom line is this product will not reliably stay on the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed I am a pro photographer. In taking my camera in and out of the bag I broke the eye cup off my Canon Mark 2. I ordered what I thought was the right eye-cup from another on-line retailer and was shipped the wrong item after a 2 week delay. I was then told the right item was out of stock. I logged on to B&H, found the right part, ordered it ... Perfect fit! i recommend B&H to all my photographers. Great job! I will use B&H in the future for my camera needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Your eye will love you! After 9+ years of use my 1dmk2's eyecup became very stiff. It did last through sand storms, ice storms, and eyeglass mistreatment over the years so I have buried it in the backyard with all rights. This new eyecup is soft soft and subtle. It's pro-love for your eye at non-pro rates. Just watch out your non-shooting eye doesn't get overly jealous. If so, I find the patch of punishmnet to be useful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from fits T90 Although not the original part, if you have an old Canon T90 film camera, this eyecup will work as a replacement. The eyepiece shutter lever on the T90 will close when sliding on the EC-II, but the clearance is enough to raise the level back up when the EC-II is installed. This is a workable solution as the eyecup for the T90 is not listed with a part number in the T90 manual I was able to find.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rivals Original Eyecup Originally Canon's eye cup for the 1n used a soft to the touch rubber but was also quick to tear with any longer term use. The replacement eyecup, EC II is a durable rubber with soft qualities that fits perfectly right out of the packaging. If you happen to use Canon's older 35mm cameras, this eyecup is a great add to your wish list.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yup. It is what it says it is. I'm not sure how one reviews an eyecup. It seems sort of akin to reviewing a fan belt or a light switch. The original fell or was knocked off somewhere, so I bought another one. It's the same as the one that came with the camera, which is no big surprise. It fits, and it works. What else is there?
