Impact SF-DSXN40 Mini Slave Flash With Hot Shoe
Key Features
  • Shoe Mount
  • Optical Slave
  • 200 Flashes on 2 AA Batteries
  • Built-in Tilting Bracket
The SF-DSXN40 Mini Slave Flash with Hot Shoe from Impact is a DC flash unit that is a good choice for a fill light, hair light, side light or background light and of course, for use as a a small light source for single subjects or small groups of people. It can be used as a master flash mounted on your camera's shoe or as an off-camera slave flash, triggered by another flash, thanks to its optical slave sensor. A small tilting bracket is built into the housing for positioning or you can use the built-in 1/4"-20 threaded socket to mount the flash to a tripod or other threaded accessory. The SF-DSXN40 gets about 200 full power flashes from a set of 2 AA batteries and has a range of 33 feet.

question

Is this safe to use on the hot shoe of a modern mirrorless camera like a Sony a6000? Are there any issues with the trigger voltage?
Asked by: Russell
I have used it on the P assuming it will work. I did purchase it mostly for the optical slave feature , but it did not work for me. I had to use my high tech professional wireless slave system which made the system bulky and NOT SMALL AND PORTABLE after this. It was small which is why I got it. I am now using a Nikon SB20 flash ($20used) on the Panasonic LX7. It is larger, but has Auto and Manual capability and flash bounce capability.
