I don't know of any drive size limitations on the Voyager S3. The limitations if any, show up in your computer operating system and with your USB connections.

Check in your disk management took or Disk Utility depending on your OS, and select the volume for formatting. Most times the unit of storage has not been allocated properly.

BH #NENWTU3S3HD works only with 2.5'' or 3.5'' SATA drives,. It does not support ATA drives.

This NewerTech Voyager S3 is a USB 3.0 Dock for connecting 2.5"/3.5" SATA Drives to a computer externally. The dock doesn't format the hard drives itself, but you can use the computer to format a drive that is in the dock.

I just bought a mini Mac. Will it be able to connect to it or do I have to buy a converter cable?
It has a USB-A connection so you would need to adapt that. Also it should work on Big Sur but we haven't tested it yet.

We would not recommend this for use with that drive.

Has anyone used this device to "clone" an SSD boot disk to a larger SSD? Both disks are SATA.
Not exactly, but I've cloned an SSD boot drive from a mechanical boot disk. I used Macrium Reflect with the source disk in use; other methods might yield different results depending on what cleverness Macrium uses.
