Tether Tools CCL25 Reviews
Top B camera accessory
I have been shooting with a “B” and/or “C” camera for a few years now. Having to set up extra tripods for them and worrying that they will be in the way was always a pain. Tether Tools Rock Solid EasyGrip LG (or XL) are a great solution. No more extra tripods. I just clamp them on a shelf, beam, etc., position and go. The first XL I bought for and extra wide clamp surface did have the screw tension knob come off right out of the box. Put a little lock tight on the threads and it was perfect. Even that minor glitch did not tarnish the rating. The heads will swivel to all kinds of positions so weather your clamping to a beam vertically or if clamping overhead they allow the camera to be positioned correctly.
great
works fine
Great in all the right places
These are awesome for clamping goPro and Drift cams to pretty much anything . We use them a lot when shooting on the waterfront for the BC Maritime Employers Association here in British Columbia.
Nice... Very nice!
First off, props to B&H. The first shipment of the product never reached me and a week after the scheduled delivery date (when I first realized it) I contacted B&H customer service and was greeted with responsive, corteous service and no hassle. They immediately re-sent it. Now, after receiving it, I'm very, very satisfied with the product. Nothing about it is cheap. Very well put together and the quality is very good. Both the product and the retailer are in my good book now!
Versatile
Using for video and or audio recorder (Zoom H4N). This product seems versatile and of quality construction. A great buy for the price!
Does what is is supposed to do
i bought this to have an option other than a stand alone tripod. I use this on my canon camcorder to record all my bands in live venue situations. Finding a good and secure position is a real hassle. With this item i am able to mount it in a better place such as a light truss or other more secure positions where it wont be bumped, broken or possibly stolen. The clamp actually grips strongly and securely without loosening or moving. You must experiment with placement and angle as there is not a lot of clearance with the camcorder in place but just be creative and you will find the angle you need. Lightweight and seemingly well built, i dont have enough usage to determine its durability but it is so far fullfilling my expectations. I may buy the 4 wide version in addition for more mounting options as every venue is different with what you may be able to access for mounting surfaces. So far I highly recommend this product!!! Not my favorite clamp.
I have a few of these and one similar-priced ball-and-socket clamp. Usually my go-to clamp is that one, since this design has some flaws. It is tough enough and does the job well enough, but the clamping width is smaller so it's less adaptable. Also, you can't see it from the pictures but the apparently very flexible arm and camera tripod mount is not as flexible as it seems. The ball end is very adjustable, but only in one direction. In the other direction it bumps the bracket and can only tilt a few degrees. To counter that, you can loosen the base and rotate that also, but there are detents there so to get certain angles you have to literally crush the plastic inside it to make it stay. Now imagine trying to adjust all three pivots with a camera attached to the tripod screw. It's time consuming and often leads to missed shots. Still, in other situations it works perfectly well. It's just not as adaptable as similarly priced models.
Great for limited spaces
We used this at wedding reception event where the venue space was really limited. However, I noticed a light fixture on the wall with a small iron part coming from it, we clamped the EasyGrip on to it and worked perfectly! We had a Nikon SB900 attached to it and after adjust the SB900 head around to where we wanted it stayed there until the night ended...well, with a couple change of batteries for the SB900. Great product and does exactly what it was design to do. I'm sure we'll find more uses for it!
