Veracity HIGHWIRE Powerstar Overview

The camera side HIGHWIRE Powerstar from Veracity works with the HIGHWIRE Powerstar base side (available separately) to deliver PoE to an IP camera over RG59 or RG11 cable. The camera unit receives PoE power from the base unit and transmits it to the camera. No external power cabling is required, and all detection and setup occurs automatically.

This unit features SafeView to provide a quick confirmation of correct operation from either end of the cable. The low-power design and efficient power delivery enables long range extension even over low-grade cable, such as high-resistance copper-clad steel (CCS) types. Reliable power delivery is also ensured at the source, where either screw-terminal connections or a UPS-backed PoE supply can be used. It delivers a full 200 Mbps of bandwidth at up to 1000' of RG59 or 1600' of RG11 coax.

PoE eliminates the need for additional cable runs
Delivers up to 25W of PoE power
SafeView quickly indicates connection and power status
Works with the HIGHWIRE Powerstar base side (available separately)

This worked right off the bat for us and some infrastructure where we could not pull new CAT cable but had pre-existing Coax. It's also a great bonus that they serve as PoE injectors if needed. Fantastic product. Don't forget that you need the other end, the camera side aka the receiver.

When using this to power a Ubiquiti Wifi radio up on a tower, we only had to run the one RG6 coax, plug it in and done! Works absolutely great. I, especially, like the indicator on the other end to tell that everything is ok.

Does the unit come with a power supply already or is that separate?
Asked by: GERALD
The Veracity HIGHWIRE Powerstar QUAD does not come with a power supply. A 57V power supply is separate.

I assume that this device can be used in conjunction with the Powerstar Quad? Can the veracity highwire vhw-hw be used instead with the Quad and have a power supply on the Quad?
Asked by: Carl
Yes you can since the Quad accepts PoE and non PoE IP cameras.

Up to 1600' using RG11 cable at full rate. Does this mean a maximum distance is capable of 1600' on RG-11 or means a further distance is achievable but signal speed would decrease and not run at 200 mbps?
Asked by: Andrew
The details about the distance is due to the Bandwidth limitation.

question

How does IP addressing work? Does the unit pull 4 IPs from my network or reuse 1? I am trying to determine if I will end up with a quad-display inside one of the camera zone's on my NVR.
Asked by: Anonymous
All this unit does is convert the Ethernet signal to work over coax, your router will still provide each device with an IP address. You will still need the VHW-HWPS-C to make this work properly.
