Bower 24mm f/1.4 Reviews

Excellent budget astrophotography lens

I bought this lens as a starter wide-angle astrophotography lens, and it's definitely lived up to the reputation. It's fairly sharp, even wide open, and gathers tons of light on full frame sensors. The only real issues are coma in the corners and chromatic aberration, both of which are fairly noticeable wide open. You can compensate for the latter, but the coma is something you have to try to work around. Other than that, I see no reason to not add this lens to your arsenal, especially as an alternative to the high-priced Canon/Nikon/Sony versions.

question

The lens pictured has an A on the aperture ring. I can't seem to find another Bower 24mm lens online with this feature. Does this particular lens allow one to control aperture with the camera? I have a Pentax K-5IIs.
Asked by: Michael M.
Set it to A and you can control the aperture from the camera's settings and leave the manual aperture ring alone. It works great

question

Is this lens compatible with PENTAX K-r DSLR camera?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, the Bower 24mm f/1.4 Wide Angle Lens is fully compatible with the Pentax K-r SLR camera as well as all other digital Pentax K mount camera bodies. Keep in mind it is a manual focus lens regardless of which camera body it is being used on.
