The Kinotehnik LCDVFe Electronic Viewfinder is a universal production style electronic viewfinder with Retina-like display, superior ergonomics and real-time response unique to the industry. At its heart is an Altera Cyclone FPGA integrated circuit with very high memory-to-logic and DSP-to-logic ratios, enabling lightning fast startup and HD video processing at highest possible picture quality, while retaining exceptional energy efficiency. This amount of firepower is usually seen in sci-fi movies.

The VF repositions and shoots in no time, whether over the crowd, at waist level or on your shoulder (no time is lost when re-configuring). Opening the flip, changing the battery pack, and many other functions can be fully operated with just one hand.

LCDVFe Electronic Viewfinder is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost Wonderful form factor and easy to adjust vertical tilt position with one hand. It stays right where you put it. Feels like the professional hand held camera viewfinders I'm used to. However, I purchased this EVF specifically to aid in focusing a DSLR and unfortunately they just haven't gotten the Peaking feature to work well at all. Turning on Peaking causes snow all over the image and it's hard to tell where the peaking is showing sharp focus because of all the other noise the circuit introduces, even with the setting as low as it goes. I'm returning mine. It is firmware upgradable so perhaps they will solve this issue. SmallHD certainly has, their Peaking feature works a charm!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice view finder I originally had a Zacuto EVF, but the buttons were not working so I decided to try the Kinotehnik. The resolution appears better than the Zacuto, the diapter is works better and the menu us very user friendly. I like the placement of the HDMI inputs better than the Zacuto (bottom vs side). The only thing that I am not crazy about is the way that it mounts to my DSLR. I can't seem to get it as secure as I'd like. I am using a hot shoe adapter and it always seems to move when I put my eye against it. I am sure that I can overcome this problem. Otherwise, it's a nice unit. It is lighter and is not as tough feeling as the Zacuto.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can see! Focus being so critical with 35mm sensors and lenses, the C100's viewfinder is way too small for my old eyes. The C100's LCD won't be a solution either when working at bright daylight. This EVF gives you perfect control over focusing in any situation, and it also provides a third point of stabilization when attached to the camera through a solid rigging system like the Wooden Camera top plate. The israeli arm-mounted EVFs don't work for me as they are too flimsy. It can also receive external power from units like Anton Bauer, which eliminates the need of replacing the EVF's internal batteries. It feels like a professional viewfinder likes the ones found on betacam camera bodies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well but.... This view finder is pretty cool. I was impressed with the many functions it has including focus extender. It looks great and feels nice on the eye. All that is great but in the world of several different formats, I was disappointed when I realized that if basically will only accept 1080 24p, or a 1080 30p signal. Also I still have not been able to download a workable version of their software. I have tried on a MAC and a PC. Because of these factors I can not give it a 5 rating. If I could I'd give it a 3.75 stars. If they come up with firmware that allows the user to view several formats and make it more reliable to download I'll change my rating to a 5

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never sorry I got it... I both this viewfinder because I was tired not to be available to focus using Black Magic micro cinema camera.... It is essiantial tool when you shooting outside, plus this viewfinder has a zoom which is very helpful when camera does have focus magnifier.... It was easy to attach to my camera cage, stays steady and keeps desire position! I also use this viewfinder with my Inspire 1, in sunny bright day - you have to have this ! All function works properly according manual guider, very happy using so far !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect Viewfinder? Yes! I use the Kinotehnik LCDVFe with my Sony FS700. I finally found the ideal way to use this camera in a handheld configuration. This viewfinder has all the essential features needed to keep your eye comfortably on the subject before you. The thing I love most about this VF is the friction clutch incorporated so the VF stays where you leave it. Nothing to unlock to adjust it. It works very much like a VF found on a full-size shoulder mount camera. Peaking zebras, histogram, focus, all working the way they should. The LCD is crisp and clear and easy on the eye. The menu is very extensive and very easy to navigate. It's made in Estonia (Europe), upon using it you'd swear it was made in Heaven. In order to get my FS700 to become a handheld wonder I installed the TILTA Quick-Release Baseplate BT-T03 Shoulder Pad, 200mm rods for the Mattebox and Follow Focus and that allows the mounting of the Zacuto FS700 Grip Relocator for the stock Sony grip. It fits very comfortably on my shoulder, everything falls into place. I'd highly recommend getting several Blue Star 90132 Eye Cushions and perhaps a longer 15mm rod, the 4 inch carbon fiber rod that comes with the VF was a little short for the size of my head, I replaced it with a 6 inch rod. A real game changer!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Usefulness of LCDVFe by Kinotehnik Well I've only had my EVF for a few weeks but it's already proven it's worth to me. Using red PEAKING color I can focus easily on the go. I handhold a lot these days and often go from outdoors to indoors in a shot., so the eyecup was definitely the right choice for me as I don't have to worry about losing the monitor in sunlight. I love how easy it is to go from having the EVF go from horizontal positiuon when holding camera at head height and switching to chest-height. I just put a little pressure on the eyecup to my head and move it with my head...don't even need to use my hands. My only problem is cost. It's take me a few jobs to pay this off. I wish it was a couple hundred cheaper. But it performs well. The only small gripe I have is...make sure your CAMERA's LCD monitor is on BEFORE you turn on the EVF. Because if reverse the order, the EVF goes off.
