Been using these for years - the ones with a flange get stuck on the 1/4” stug and has to he removed with pliers or if they break off in the 3/8 hole you could be screwed to remove it- With this sunwayfoto design they can easily be installed and tightened with a srewdriver- no issues ever!!!

These are great for when you want to reduce to 1/4 but need the threads to still be flush with the surface. Be careful using with certain ballheads and fluid heads that have a hollow space after the threads, as this could fall in there and be trapped if screwed in too far.
