    Canon 22mm f/2.0 reviews

    EF-M 22mm f/2 STM Lens is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pancake M The EF-M 22mm STM is tack sharp, even wide open; it's the sharpest EF-M lens by far. This is my favorite lens and gets the most use. Great for indoor non-flash photography and general purpose shooting. When used outside it gives more "pop" than the EF-M zooms with it's high contrast rendition. It's lightweight and small which pairs well with the small footprint EOS M platform which is why I bought the EOS M3 to begin with (second camera, personal use, that I can take anywhere and get great shots). Although a 5/5 lens, it would be 6/5 if Canon capitalized on this lenses success with IS variant it would be a great indoor low light video lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens for EOS-M If you own an EOS-M you either already have this lens or ought to. The 22mm focal length, equivalent to a 35mm on a full frame camera, and f/2 maximum aperture makes this a very versatile lens. My EOS-M does backup and 2nd or 3rd camera duty on video shoots where the STM focus on this lens is quiet, quick, precise and very useful during either full-time auto focus or touch-screen focus racking. Optical performance is very good, not the sharpest lens I own, but plenty good enough for any task I've given it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp, Fast, and Super Compact This little gem of a lens is truly spectacular. The angle of view is equivalent to around 35mm on a full-frame body and is the ideal focal length for a whole lot of stuff. At f2.0, it is bright and has beautiful bokeh. Sharpness is excellent with a little edge softness and light vignetting wide open. By f4 it is great from center to edge. It is so small and when mounted on my M3 it is the ideal walking-around camera, compact enough to fit in my back pocket. Overall an excellent value, worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good overall lens for everyday use Due to its small size as a "pancake" lens, I keep it on all the time since it's small. I end up moving closer to the subject if needed, so I don't miss the zoom as much as I thought. It's fast, so I get good background blurring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens! This lens has produced much better images than I expected. Another reviewer mentioned that the focus is slow and can hunt in low light. In using other lenses with the EOS-M, that seems to generally be an issue with the camera. I doubt this lens contributes to the problem. I've consistently gotten excellent, surprisingly sharp images, with no problem fiding a focus lock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty lens in a small package Love this lens, while producing an approximate 35mm view on my M5, it gives me the perfect look for what I bought the M5 for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sharp pancake lens Beautiful, pancake lens that's really sharp. Easy to carry, lightweight, and great closeups. A real bargain priced lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb! I got this lens with an EOS M kit, but am reviewing it separately from the camera. In short, this lens is superb! The lens is compact and solidly built. It's nicely sharp in the center even wide open. Vignetting is quite heavy at f/2, but I rather like it that way. Stopping down reduces vignetting quickly and the center is very sharp by f/2.8 with sharp borders, while the far corners are sharp by f/4. Bokeh is very nice (in the limited quantities the focal length and aperture afford). AF speed isn't great, but I think that's as much or more a matter of the EOS M camera than the lens. Most of my shooting has been indoors, but I've had no issues with flare, using it without a hood or filter. I shoot in raw and have Lightroom automatically correct CA, and haven't noticed any significant residual CA. Distortion is well controlled. It focuses quite close, which is very handy. Overall, this lens is very well behaved: there's nothing much to watch out for and it produces lovely images. Now it just needs a camera body as good as it is to mount it on!
