This lens is excellent for landscapes, close-in portraits, closed spaces, macro photos, and clear vlogging. Operates well at maximum arperture.

I don't have a ton of space for my videos. This lens give me a ton of versatility in a space where I have little room for depth and angle.

It really upgraded my Canon M-50 that came with the kit lens. Now I can set the ISO to even the minimum and still looks bright so the image looks a lot less grainy and nicer. The depth of field also improved a lot.

Practical and good quality

Great lens, cost and benefit is worth it. I like the size is very practical for my M50 Mark II. I can move around places and have pro results without carring a lot of stuff.

Unparalleled Value

Purchased this lens for general purpose / street photography with my M50 Mk II and it lives up to the hype. Unbelievably compact; tack sharp down to f2.0, with great color, and good subject separation; works well for nature/landscape, street, and even portraits... for ~$200 you can't come within a mile of this lens.

How does it work for video? Without IS, does it work well for video? 18-150 is a bit heavy/poorly balances on the gimbal.
Asked by: Jeffrey
If you used this lens on the Canon EOS M50 which has 5 axis stabilization, then this would alleviate the need for stabilization in the lens. If using it on an EOS M camera without stabilization for video, then using a hand held gimbal is the best way to add stability.

My opinion is this: fast enough for astrophotography but not wide enough. I would choose the Sigma 16mm over this for Milky Way, aurora, ect. photography.

On a Canon Em mount APS-C camera, 22mm has the wide perspective of 53°. As you may know, the wider the lens, more DOF or Depth of Field (the area in focus) is created. The more you stop down ((increased the lens aperture number from f/2 to say, f/16, you will make the lens a universal, everything in focus lens. You will have no trouble keeping your kids in focus on a bright sunny day. In twilight, you will have to refocus.

Not all Canon lenses enable DPAF Movie Servo AF. Is this lens compatible with Movie Servo AF?
Asked by: Rudolph, Jr.
The EF 50mm f/1.8 STM and the EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM are not compatible. It seems like only the STM zooms are compatible, and a few L Series lenses.
