The Zacuto 3.2" Adhesive Frame for Z-Finder Viewfinder lets you snap a Zacuto Z-Finder Viewfinder quickly on and off a 3.2" LCD, like that of Canon's 5D Mark III and 1DX and of Nikon's D800 and D4. The frame attaches around the LCD by a one-time adhesive and then you can snap the Z-Finder onto it and off from it as many times as you want, and it's compatible with all Z-Finders out there. (You can at any time safely remove the frame from your camera, but its adhesive will be lost.)

Normally, a Z-Finder attaches by a thumbscrew system, which requires screwing and unscrewing each time you attach, but the frame provides you instead with a quick-release system. And considering the affordable cost of the frame, if you have several cameras with 3.2" LCDs, you can purchase several frames and be able to quickly move your Z-Finder from one camera to another.

The frame ships with an extender (which is also a frame), the exact kind that comes with a Z-Finder. The extender attaches to the Z-Finder, and then by means of this extender the Z-Finder snaps onto the frame. Both the frame and the extender are made of reliable plastic.

Nikon D800 users please note: the D800 has a dial close to its screen, and this dial gets in the way of the frame, so D800 users are advised to use the clear screen protector -- part # BM-12 -- that comes with the D800 when attaching the sticky frame. You'll only need to use the top and bottom adhesive of the frame in this case, leaving the backing on the sides unpeeled so the glue underneath will not attract dirt and lint. The frame will be scored and marked to guide you in doing all this.

3.2" Adhesive Frame for Z-Finder Viewfinder is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as reliable as previous mounts I used quite a few of the Zacuto adhesive frames in the past for the Canon Mark II and Mark IV, which were great, but this is not as good due to the extra screen size. To compensate for the larger screen size, another section is added in the middle to accomodate the Z-Finder. It takes a lot of force to apply the Z-finder, as well as remove it with this mount, but the problem is that the extra force can pull off the whole adhesive frame. I followed all the instructions for curing the adhesive, but it still fell off. I'd recommend the gorilla plate & metal frame combination that Zacuto makes for this camera as its rock solid and you can remove it at any point.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Necessary evil Used with Zacuto Z-Finder, as I shoot a lot with tripod, and Zacuto's gorilla plate interfers with my L-plate, thus I needed the adhesive frame. I wish it fit my D800 LCD perfectly, as it extends too wide and interfers slightly with the directional pad (even when perfectly centered). It's also not quite tall enough, thus a tiny bit of the top and bottom are cropped (as in like 3mm, but still). For a $$+ item (the Z-finder), I'm shocked the adhesive frame isn't included with the package. Pretty shady if you asked me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prefer over metal Frame Use of the Gorilla plate and metal frame was not an option since I keep an L-Plate on my D4. The adhesive frame works well and is virtually unnoticed when the Z-Finder is not mounted. Only gripe is that it blocks a slight amount of the top and bottom of the D4's LCD.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not good in HOT weather Like other reviewers I used the gorilla plates but they got in the way and didn't fit properly if I had a battery pack attached to bottom of camera. I tried the adhesive frame and it worked great until I took it to Haiti to shoot a video. The heat and humidity took it's toll. In the middle of shooting, the viewfinder and adhesive frame fell off. I feel it was installed properly, I attached it and let it cure overnight with a heavy book applying pressure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easier I got this to replace one I already had (broke the first one). Works great, easier and quicker that having a bolt on one (which I also have). The view finder has never fallen off the frame or been bumped off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get rid of the bulk I like having my camera stripped down to bare bones when shooting for our television program. This little mount lets me mount my Z-finder Pro without using the Gorilla plate and adapter. With this there is no light leakage and that makes it easier (for me)to focus the camera. I have had the smaller frame on 2 MkIIs and had one pop off after about 8 months. For $ I keep a spare around just incase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good alternative was apprehensive about getting this and sticking it on my brand new canon 5d miii, but i shoot a lot of video and love the z-finder. i had the gorilla bracket mount on my old 60d and found it got in the way a lot and was annoying to take the frame in and out. this seems to work so far. been about a week. no idea what will happen if i need to take it off, but the z-finder clips in there. my advice though is use the neck strap of the z-finder in case you knock the z-finder while it's attached. it can come off. but it's good to have this cheap thing as a way to switch your z-finder from your evf and back to the camera quickly. It's a good alternative to the much more expensive z-finder. and i don't feel like it gets in the way of my viewing either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more Gorilla Plate! If you're like me, you're always finding ways to make life simpler. The Gorilla plate that comes with the Z-Finder is overkill if just using it for the viewfinder. Get this.
