Plustek OpticFilm 8200i Ai Reviews

Small Footprint, Big Resolution!

Coming from an Epson V600 scanner, I was surprised to see just how small the Plustek is! It fits nicely on my desk, which is nice since you manually have to advance the film for each frame being scanned. I find it faster than the Epson and much higher quality for my 35mm and 110 film negatives.

I have the 7200 and it is great.

I have the 7200 series of this scanner, but it has the same specs as the 8200. So I don't think there is any need to upgrade. You need the Silverfast software and you should purchase the silverfast third-party book. It's a big book but there are only a few pages that essential to read and understand... My negatives turn out perfectly....

I am currently running and Epson V800 using SilverFast Ai 8.8 on an iMac. I’m interested in getting the Plustek 8200i Ai to handle my 35mm film scans using the supplied SilverFast software. My question is will I have any concerns when installing and using the software since I already have it installed on my Imac. My goal is to be able to easily run both scanners (not consecutively) from the same interface.

Hardware wise there is no issue. Sometimes the software supplied with a device will work only with that hardware. Other than that I would not expect any issues.

I see that the product descriptions for the Plustek 8200i Ai refers to the inclusion of Silverfast 8. I see an answer to a question that Silverfast is a free upgrade. Presumably the package only includes the Silverfast 8. How does the upgrade work in practice?
