The OpticFilm 8200i Ai Film Scanner from Plustek converts all your 35mm negatives and mounted slides into digital files you can edit and view on the computer. The included SilverFast Ai Studio 9 works together with the scanner to improve your workflow and ensure proper results, making it easier to create a digital image archive of your analog images. Coming from an Epson V600 scanner, I was surprised to see just how small the Plustek is! It fits nicely on my desk, which is nice since you manually have to advance the film for each frame being scanned. I find it faster than the Epson and much higher quality for my 35mm and 110 film negatives.

I am currently running and Epson V800 using ...

I am currently running and Epson V800 using SilverFast Ai 8.8 on an iMac. I’m interested in getting the Plustek 8200i Ai to handle my 35mm film scans using the supplied SilverFast software. My question is will I have any concerns when installing and using the software since I already have it installed on my Imac. My goal is to be able to easily run both scanners (not consecutively) from the same interface.

Hardware wise there is no issue. Sometimes the software supplied with a device will work only with that hardware. Other than that I would not expect any issues.

No that feature is available in the Silverfast Ai Studio 8 software. The SE version will not include it.

The scanner cannot output or save files as RAW. Supported output formats are JPG, TIF, PCX and BMP.

Plustek film holders have to be manually positioned for each film frame you want to scan. No auto advance is possible.
